~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Jsmom, no, he did not say anything about a specific time or day he could call. I was actually very surprised because I did not expect a call until at least next weekend. When he then called my wife on her cell phone, she accidentally disconnected the call when she got her phone out of her purse. She just knew it was from our son and immediately called the number back but, of course, it would not accept incoming calls. She was devastated! Luckily, he called her back and they were able  to talk. I guess the only thing we can do is keep a phone close by 24/7 and hope we don't  miss it or the call gets dropped or something..... Yes, we are going to graduation. Have our reservations made for the hotel. We are driving up from Virginia so we're leaving early Wednesday, the 22nd. Hope you get your call soon!

You are correct it should be 38 days :(. Not sure what happened there.

ellen0502:  Just checking on something.  Is the countdown on this page, 28 days until PIR correct?  We've been counting down and we come up with 38. Of course, I would REALLY be excited if it is 28 days.

Mike803:  Did your son say if there was a certain time of the day that they are allowed to call?  I really do NOT want to miss it.  Everytime my cell phone rings, my heart skips a beat.  So happy for you that you heard from him and got to actually have a conversation.  That 20 sec "I'm here" call was really depressing.  Are you going to graduation?

My son is also in Div  202, Ship 03. I received a phone call from him last Saturday while I was at work. He had tried to call our house but no-one was home. It was really great to hear his voice, even though he got a little emotional which, of course, caused me to get the same way. Other than being homesick, he sounded ok, said the food was actually good! Not getting much sleep, but sounded ok otherwise. He said he had 45 minutes so we talked for awhile and, after a tearful goodbye for both of us, he had time to call his mom on her cell and speak with her, which meant the world to her! Now looking forward to getting letters from him and his next call.

My son's PIR is 5/24/2013.  He is DIV 202.  Made the reservations for the flight, just don't know about the hotel yet.  Would love to go to the meet and greet, but may not make it due to flight.  I wish I would receive a call from him.  I've read on this site that other mom's have heard from their kids.  Maybe this week.....I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Well, no call from my SR.  Sounds like a few moms from her division got calls :( oh well, I'll hope I get I get a letter this week!!  Maybe she used her call, to call a friend instead.

Patti, Phoebe, and Dinky you are all in my prayers.  Very tough week for all of you, please know that you are not alone.  There are some amazing women on here that will help you every step of the way.  I'm new to all of this, but I will definetely listen when you need to talk.  You can private message me if you like.  Take care.
