I figure since divisions 159 and 161 were represented already, I'd add 160 ;)

It's hard to believe that it's been over a week since my brother left already. When I called my dad to give him my brother's address, he mentioned that when he took my brother out for his going away party, a Navy vet had come up and told him that he will gain a whole brotherhood/sisterhood while in the Navy, so that really makes me feel better. I'd love to meet the families of his new brothers and sisters!

My son's in Ship 07 Div 160!  already got the form letter but haven't received the box yet. Same here, i'd love to meet the families of my son's new brothers & sisters. Nice to meet you Trix4theRabbits!

My mom got the letter on Thursday, but I told my brother to send me the box, since I live a lot closer to GL than our parents and they might not be able to make it for PIR. That way I figure I can bring him back his cell phone on 5/25. Just wrote my first letter today!

Hello,

My Son, Dustin is with your son.  It's nice to meet someone else that is going through this.  Today was the 2 week mark of him leaving.  I finally can make it a day without tears.  I know it's best for him, but I know it will be tough.  Everybody tells me he will be a different man by graduation.  I can't wait to see him in uniform :)  Handsome!

I haven't received the box yet either.  I assumed we would have it within a week or 10 days.  Oh well.  I guess it will arrive soon.

Nice to meet you!    Janice

My son Kyle is also ship 7 div 160.  Where are you from?  I hear ya on the whole making it through a day without tears.  Certain things just trigger it.  I can't wait until graduation to see the transformation and the uniform as well.  Bring on the waterworks :)  I love the countdown on the PIR 5/25/2012 page, 44 days til graduation!  Before we know it that will say 1 day til graduation.

I was told that some of the boxes don't get sent home because the boys don't want to pay to have them shipped home.  Any possibility your son just tossed his stuff?  If not, then i'm sure it will show up sooner or later.  Ours came fedex and was just left on the porch. We live in IL so it came in two days.  Best wishes to your family and to your SR.  Hang in there!

Hi trix and nigels mom.  My son Kyle is Ship 07 Div 160 also.  We live about an hour and a half from GL and have received the box and the form letter.  No personal letters yet, but I have sent him about 5 or 6 already.  I can't believe he's been gone for 11 days already.  It seems to be going pretty fast.  May 25th will be here before you know it.  Best wishes to your family and your SR's.

It does seem to be going surprisingly fast, I think it helps now that I know what's going on. I can't wait till May 25th!

Hello pinkyxoxo. Wow! You're so lucky because we don't live that close ...we're in South Cali. I'm still looking forward to receive the box. No personal letter from my son yet and I have sent him 3 letters already. Few days ago,I have been wishing to get a call from him but learned from the posts here in N4Ms, no news is good news...we'll just pray for our SR's safety. Best wishes to your family & your SR too.

We got the "box" last week Tuesday and the form letter Saturday.  Receiving the letter was a nice Easter present!  Hi cried when I realized it was from my son.

Nigel's mom -- I'm in So Cal too!   There were 2 other boys from MEPS that flew to GL with my son.  I wonder if your son was one of them.

Nice to meet you all - Trix4theRabbits, pinkyxoxo and Nigels mom.

CBC mom -- Really? That's great to be meeting someone from So Cal. I'm not sure if i remember it right, my son met two other boys.I'm sure, one of them was your son.

I wonder why i haven't received the box yet. Was it mailed through USPS or Fedex... I've been waiting for it because it had my son's phone.

I believe the box was shipped Fedex.  Where you at MEPS for the swearing in ceremony?  Did your son fly out on 3/28?  I think the 2 boys with my son where Don and Norman.

thanks. i'm just a bit worried about his box. don't know what happened to it. No, I wasn't there during the swearing in ceremony. We just dropped him off at the recruitment center. Were you? Yes he did fly out on 3/28. Just got a txt msg from him past 1pm that they were on their way to LAX. All i can remember is his roommate hotel was from Long Beach.

Are you going to attend their PIR? I'm not sure if i am, until now I'm still praying that he would change his mind. My son's just nuts..he told me it's not necessary for me to be there because he's not a kid anymore... lol..just laughed when he told me this but deep inside i wish it's the other way around... the letter i mailed on friday, i put a note "hope he's gonna change his mind'... :))

Yes we were at San Diego MEPS almost all day.  The bus left at 1:30 for the SD airport, flight was at 3.  Did your son  go to SD MEPS or is there one in LA?

We are definitely excited to go  to PIR.  Hope you are going as well!  It will be an exciting and proud moment to see your son graduate
