Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 187 and 188

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

Has anyone in these two divisions received any mail from your SR yet? And when you spoke to them (assuming you spoke to them) did any of them say if they had received any mail yet. I was wondering because when I asked my son if he had gotten any of my letters he said no but some people had gotten mail. I know that someone has to learn to do the mail first but wouldn't the whole division start getting it at the same time?
spoke with our son on saturday. he has not received our letters and so far none from him. hopefully this week!
Yes I hope so. It will just be nice knowing they are flowing. I would imagine they received a big first batch on Monday.

I got my first letter today! The letter was dated 4/20.  (Div 187)

Hopefully by now you have received both letters and a phone call. We spoke to our son last night. He says it is great and he is eating like a pig( from a kid who would hardly eat at home).

The mail, once he starts to get it, comes pretty regular, about 4-5 days to deliver. They get Sundays off so that is when he mails his letter and calls us

My husband stated he did not received any letters yet.  He also said that he had not been able to write either.  He said Sunday (4/20) was going to be the first opportunity he had been given to write me.

That's what my son said so I am anxiously awaiting the mail tomorrow. Maybe we will get our letters.
When i spoke with my son on Saturday he had gotten my first letters on Friday. I haven't received any mail from him. He got to BC on 4/3 and said that there had been a couple of mail calls when he didn't get anything and was starting to wonder. I explained how long it took to get his letter and that made him feel better.

Hi,

Mom son called the day before Easter very home sick. It was a difficult week after that. I received two letters on Thursday (his birthday) and the tone in his letters was much better. He said he was so glad he had gotten the chance to call home. Said he misses home but it's not that bad in bootcamp. It said it is very high paced and some days are better than others. Looking forward to junk food again! LOL. It was good to hear the tone in his letters to be more up beat than a few days prior.

Does anyone know if there is a facebook page for PIR 5/30 group? I saw there was one for 6/6.

When I had talked to my son the day before Easter he said he had finally received all my letters. He was required to open them in front of someone to ensure no unacceptable content. I had read that they hold the mail for the first few weeks not sure if it's to get them through the hard part and it will make them more home sick? By now they should all be receiving mail. Hang in there a few more weeks and we can see our kids!! :)

So I hear some people are decorating the door. I am so not good at this stuff and had no idea we were supposed to do that so can someone help me out here. Do we cover the whole door with paper and write on it or what? Some one said they were having a banner made. Where would you even have something like that done. See told ya I'm clueless.
Happy Mother's Day everyone!
