~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Got a 15 minutes call from my son this morning. He's doing much better & is so glad that he decided to stick it out. Hopefully other moms got a call ship 13 div 183.

Wow, marie, your story gave me chills.  God knows, doesn't He?  So glad that you talked to him!  Hope you are recovering well!

Good Morning All !

Weird but true....I had to go for surgery on Thursday.  Spent the day before in constant thought about my son.  His "I'm here" call came at 2 am on 4/1, it was scripted and robotic so I really didn't feel like I had a quality conversation with my son...Well on the way to the hospital I look over at my husband and say " I would feel so much better about this if only I could hear his voice"... no sooner do I finish the sentence when my cell rings and a huge "hey mom, got a minute" comes over the speakers...I was speechless, I though I was going to swallow my tongue trying to get words out...so my husband jumped in and grabbed his attention until I could speak. As coincidence would have it he was in finishing paperwork for his clearance and he needed a piece of information on his sister.  I never shared w/  him that I was having surgery because he had enough on his plate.  So just wanted to share this story about a well timed misc call that made me happier than words can say... he managed to get in an "I'm doing good, but this folding crap is killing me, Mom!"... who'd have known it would take uncle Sam to domesticate him :)

Well they attempted to deliver his box today, but apparently wouldn't without a signature. If I'd have known I could have left a note. Oh well. I'll see if I can pick it up tomorrow or have it rede liveried on Monday. One step closer to getting that letter!

Thanks dianep!

Trish:  It wouldn't hurt for you to write your SR and ask that he order Pkg A for the photos.  That would make it easier for him....and The Keel (yearbook) is included for free if he orders....not if you order after PIR.

DoubleAsmom,I got his kid in a box on the 8th and the form letter on the 10th..I'm not sure I guess depends when it's mailed out..I'm sure you will be getting yours soon!
Comment by Trish on April 11, 2014 at 5:18pm

dianep, yes, i was talking about sending him a credit card. i thought they were to be paid for when the SR ordered them? but it is good to know that i can pay for them at pir just in case. I wanted the A package so i will just send a letter about this closer to graduation, i dont think i should now, they have too much going on to worry or think about pictures! :)

Tonya(proudmomDJ) how did you find out his Div. information already? My son got there on 4/4, but I haven't gotten any info like that. Only the "I'm here" call.
