Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Mommashep can you friend me then send 187/188 BS date. We have spoken with our SR since April 27th and last letter was after Mother's Day. Want to know when to expect a call. Thanks!!

Happy Memorial Day Navy Family! Hope ya'll get the chance to thank a veteran for their service. I got several FB messages from my SR yesterday. I didn't get to respond to them live though because I wasn't on at that time. His messages were positive and one of them said "4 days and a wake up until I become a Sailor" I'm taking that to be a very good sign! He gave me the date for 187/188 BS so now I know when to expect the I'm a Sailor call! I can't wait to meet everyone and personally thank them for the friendship, encouragement and support I've received from this amazing group of women. My prayers are with the moms whose SRs have run into problems at BC. I pray they stay strong for their children/SO and that somehow things work out according to God's plan.

Ladies, I cannot believe that I am getting on a plane for Illinois in two days!!! Now I am freaking out that I might forget something. lol 4 more days until we see our Sailors!!!

J-MansMom: Congrats on your son's award! Yes, I would think that is possible at Bootcamp. Good for him!
As far as the "hold" for A School....normally, they hold at the A School....not RTC, but occasionally some may hold a few days at RTC. He just won't know for sure until flights are issued this week.

Folks, I have a couple of questions: Son said he was getting a good conduct award. Is that possible in Boot Camp or did we misunderstand? Also, Son said he is ordered to arrive at A-School on June 8, but he doesn't have orders for his departure yet. Since that is 8 days after PIR, what is most likely to happen? Will he stay at RTC for several days, or will they go ahead and fly him out to A-School, where he'll wait until school starts? Would it be possible for Son to come home for a week?
