~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

NanM :  30 secs...he's right there!!!   There's got to be a chance for him to get the run in before PIR ...Wednesday?  Thursday??But he's right there NanM  !!

I just caught myself demanding from my Husband and Family an explanation as to the reason there hasn't been a call from Son yet...then I stared at the phone for a couple of minutes before realizing that, according to the ole writing on the wall, it's time to check myself into the looney bin.  lol!

Oh!! My heart is breaking!!! Just got a call from my son and he will not be graduating with his Div!!!!! He failed his PFA by 30 seconds on his run time!! He says he will have to graduate with another Div!! Oh, I can't breath!!! Call was so scripted and I had no time to ask any questions other than was it possible for him to still pass it, do battlestations and graduate with his group. He said maybe. I asked if we should cancel plans he said not yet. He had to go and would call next week!!! I don't know what to do....I'm just heartbroken for him!!!

Comment by NanM on May 23, 2014 at 2:23pm

Thanks diannep!! I will just have to wait till next week and ask him, but I'm sure you're right, and he had to pick something else :)

Comment by diannep on May 23, 2014 at 1:56pm

MustangRobin:  Yep, hopefully you will get THAT CALL in the next few hours!  We feel sure that 183/184 went through last night.

Comment by diannep on May 23, 2014 at 1:54pm

On those SRs who now have another "job" in the Navy, it could have been that the job they contracted for when enlisting was now overmanned and they had to pick something else.  That happens sometimes.

I heard the food is better, they get a stipend (?) for being on a sub too. He originally wanted on a sub and then switched to carrier. Now he is leaning back again to sub. He got MM rating which is what he wanted because he wants to be an ELT, but now says he wants to welding also as an MM which is only on subs. >sigh<  At least they have all through A school to figure it out.

Comment by NanM on May 23, 2014 at 1:17pm

cindyb: I don't know. Even his rating is now different than what he wanted. Either they changed their minds, or the Navy changed it for them, lol! Hubby says it's better pay too, or used to be. I read an article that Kathy D posted on FB that said the Navy signed big contract for 10 more subs, so I'm sure they are looking for Nuke Sailors to man them eventually. I love the water.....from a pool with sides, or viewing from a pier or cruise ship but it has always been my phobia of dying by drowning, so I prefer my head ABOVE water, haha! Guess it's my phobia, not his, but I sure don't like the idea of him under water for so long at a time :(  At least on a Carrier there is a "surface" to go to in order to see the sun and feel the wind on your face!

NanM - My son said he is leaning more towards sub too! Wonder what happened there that made them "jump ship" to the subs. lol
