Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!
Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!
Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Here's my story: my brother(who lived with my parents until the day he left for Basic) invited his wife (who lives with our parents) that he married 3 months ago (my parents paid for 90% of their wedding) and the other two people he named to his list were our brother and myself. He then left the 4th ticket open for one of my parents (didn't even bother to name either one) and said his wife could choose which one to invite to his PIR. Our brother is really close to him and I have s-mothered him for years... but my parents (especially our mom) were really hurt. I have agreed to go (obviously it's important to my new sailor-brother) but our other brother volunteered to give his ticket up so that both of our parents can go. Talk about some family drama! They could have filmed a TV show about us this month. ;-)

Diannep: The pleasure would be all mine! Today would have been a great day for lunch...The monster in law has declared war because she wasn't on the PIR list...watch out Secretary of Defense she's fired up ! LOL I love to watch this woman spin...she gives me my best material :)

CatMom: I know the nap when they do thing....but I have so much to do when he is napping that rarely do I have time! HA! He slept 3 hrs earlier today and even during that time, I never got to sit down....but I got alot accomplished! :-)
