Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!
Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!
Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

BrandiMichelle: You can contact "Sarge" who holds the MeetandGreet for you the night before PIR, to take you from the airport. He has a taxi service and gives Navy families a break. If you can combine with another family in one of his taxis, it's cheaper! 847 212 0246

Does anyone know if there are shuttles from O 'hare to the navy lodge ? Or if without a rental you must take the train ?

well I think I am finally set reservation at the navy lodge is done, and I am going to use sarge for the transportation. now I just need to see what there is to do for fun since it will just be my son and I. kind of fun to have him all to myself.

Hello all! One more Friday we can mark off :) It's derby weekend here in KY and while I'm planning our party I find myself missing my SR a lot. Looking forward to meeting those of you who are good to the meet and greet. And can't wait to see my future sailor! Div 04 ship 188

cindyb....OHHHH!! Thanks! I never thought of that! I'm not that computer-literate, haha! I don't have a color printer either, so don't think my pics would look too good...maybe I will get hubby or daughter to help me though, and see if we can come up with some decent black and white pics

NanM - As for pictures...I send pictures from my phone to my email, or connect my phone via usb cable to my comptuer. Then I can save the pictures to my computer to insert into my letters. =) Hope that might work for you too!
