For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Trish: Navy Gateway can be a little tricky. If your sailor is staying in GL for A School, he/she has to get a chit when they move over there in order to visit you in the hotel. The GL A School students are normaly not allowed at the hotel without it. Navy Lodge is a little more convenient. It is not actually on base so you can come and go as you please.

Just want to clarify that Navy Gateway is the hotel on the Great Lakes A School base, not RTC. It is actually about 2 miles from the hotel to RTC.

Yes, correct, they can swim if in their Navy-issued swim suits.

As far as access to their paychecks, not sure how that works. I'm assuming that he opened a Navy Fed account? If so, he may not have checks for it yet---but maybe a debit card???. Just not sure. He would have to find that out up there.

NanM: If your SR paid for the piks, he/she can mail them to you which usually has them arriving right before leaving for PIR. They can also pay for them and then keep them, giving them to you after PIR. Some will wait and let family members pay for them after PIR. That is done in the Photo Lab after PIR.

They keep on file 1 year in case you want reprints.The recruits have to pay for them.

I have a couple of questions......someone asked this on FB.
Does anyone know if the pictures are available before graduation? If not, do we pick them up there, at graduation?
Also, do the SRs get access to their first paycheck before they graduate? My son wants to send his girlfriend a check to pay for airfare to his graduation. I don't think she can go anyway, it's her senior year and PIR is on her senior check out day from school. I was under the impression (not sure why, lol!) that the SRs did not get access to their money until graduation. Does anyone know for sure?
