~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

NanM: So your sailor is not staying in GL for A School? If not, I would not suggest staying at Gateway. Have you considered staying at Navy LODGE instead? About a mile from RTC, in the housing area. Probably a better choice since you won't deal with the restrictions like you will at Gateway.
Thanks ellen0502! I think I will tell his Dad this information. We are still waiting to be approved, and if it's going to be a hassle for him or us, I'd rather just stay somewhere else. I don't think we really planned on going anywhere else on base except the Drill Hall and maybe the Recreation Center. Possibly NEX Photo Lab if he doesn't get the order for his pics in, lol! Originally, we were thinking it would be easier to see/visit with him if we were right there, but now that we know he will probably ship out by 12-12:30, it might be better to have a room closer to the airport?......I'm really not sure what to do
NanM, Your sailor will also have to submit a chit to be approved to visit the hotel on base. It is a great hotel, but you will be restricted as to where you can go on base without your Sailor.
Thank you Lala.... We are in the process of booking our room at the Navy Gateway on base, but I guess we have to get approved first. If for some unknown reason we don't get that approval, I guess we will be looking elsewhere, lol, but I'm guessing everything will check out fine. We have our flights and rental car lined up already. Booked through Southwest and coming into Chicago Midway.
I'm with mariekg....38 days and counting :)
Hope they all did well on the test today...had to be stressful. Took a screen shot of the countdown clock on this page and attached it to tonight's letter...38 days is so much better than 59 :) Yeah!!!
