Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I am hawking kayak for the cheapest fares to O'Hare from NYCity I am traveling with my hubby,and 3 teens. We are staying in the Embassy suites closer to Navy Pier downtown. We took the family there for a road trip years ago and they loved it. Plus the embassy suites has large suite like rooms so we can hang out there with the extended family if that's what the Sailor chooses. Its a shame he leaves for A school most likely the next day.., would love to take him to a ball game!

This may be a silly question. Are we allowed to post their address on a site like Facebook so others can write him? I know he has a lot of friends whose parents are friends of mine and know him well and would enjoy sending a card or note. I just wasn't sure if there was a rule against this.

Remember to check out Southwest Airlines for flights....into either Milwaukee (45 min to GL) or Chicago Midway (hour+ to GL). No change fee, 2 bags check for free. Check out their special one-way fares and see if two of those work better for you.

cindyb: Navy Lodge is another fav on here. About a mile from RTC....simple, clean and renovated about a year ago. You book in your SR's name unless you have military ID yourself.

J-Man's Mom: Holiday Inn Express is where CatMom and family stayed. She highly recommends it! Very close to Sarge's MeetandGreet too....4-5 miles from RTC.

i am making travel plans. Looks like we will fly in on Thursday and leave Monday. We have a 14 year old son who will be with us. Hoping there will be some other kids his age for him to visit with. Our son will likely leave for A school on Saturday so our visit will be short and sweet. Any other moms bringing teens? Perhaps we can plan to stay at the same hotel.

Our Son loves the snow and cold, windy weather. No doubt, this weather will make BC more enjoyable for him.
Later this week, we'll make travel arrangements. I'm considering Holiday Inn...it's only 5 miles from the base and they have a shuttle. Looks good.
