N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Lala,

What a cool-looking dog your Poochie is!  With a blue eye and a gold eye, he has "heterochromia iridum."  My Daina was always fascinated with horses that had 2 colored eyes--alot of Paints have that, so she told me what it was called. :)

Praying he will be fine and it's good to hear that the Copperhead's bite is not as bad as feared.  Thanks Diannep, for that bit of comfort!!

Comment by diannep on May 21, 2013 at 1:11pm

Thank goodness just read that Copperhead bites are almost never fatal to dogs (they are considered secondary venomous snakes) and the size of the dog matters.  Being a larger dog and the fact you got to him right away, praying that he will be well!  What a cutie!

We did the same thing when that happened to our family and my hubby could not go. But that was almost 3 years ago and they are more strict now. I would for sure at least try everything possible.

All of my animal loving friends please say a prayer for our Poochie, He was bitten by a Copperhead and is at the vet now. We are waiting to hear what they say. Thanks so much.

Lala:  RTC stated that once the lists are finalized the week before PIR, they cannot be changed.  I have heard that they update the week before PIR or even earlier.  So not sure a letter to her SR will make a difference since their lists would be updated by the time the SR receives the letter.

A lady in a previous PIR group said that she did take a "substitute" for someone on her guest list and that person was allowed in w/out being on the list.  So my feeling is to try it, but make sure you have a backup plan in case that person is denied entry (returning to hotel on a shuttle....waiting in the car may be a very long wait).  They normally do not allow the people turned away to wait anywhere on the base.  Since her mom has military ID, I don't know if that will make a difference in her waiting on base for them, but have heard in the past from others that it doesn't make a difference....they can't wait on base.

Good Morning All !

Prayers for Oklahoma and all the other areas that have been hit with these storms.

@Jana - thank you!  Are you going to Sarge's meet and greet?

To everyone, thank you for all the love, prayers and support throughout this journey.  You have helped me keep it together and focus on our finish line which is officially 10 days away!

HaydensMom, I would also write to your recruit and tell him/her of the change and see if there is anyway at all they can update the list. And if you get a call ask then as well. Good luck, I hope it works out and I hope your mother-in-law is okay.

Good Morning everyone, I hope today is less stormy for everyone in the path of the tornadoes. My eyes filled with tears this morning watching the news about the school with the missing children. If you live anywhere near those areas keep your phone close by. Recruits are often allowed to make calls home to check on families in the path of devastation like this. We can't be sure they will call but keep your phone close by and maybe even put a message on it saying if this is "John" we are all fine and going to be very mad we missed your call please leave a message and let us know you are good as well and please try to call again or call "grandma/dad/aunt" etc. Or you could leave a different number for them to call and repeat it at the end because they won't have any way to write the number down. I hope you all and your families are okay. Everyone is in my thoughts and prayers. {{{{{HUGS}}}}}

Wow, time after bootcamp sure does fly. My son-in-law's PTS was approved so at least another 5 years in the Navy :)
