N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

For those of you looking for a special gift for your SR-soon-to-be-Sailor, please check out www.pirgifts.com .  They have Challenge Coins, which are a military tradition.  Craig, who is one of thei administrators on Navy for Moms, designed the ones that are connected to the ships at RTC.  The name of your SR's ship is right next to the ship number in the Discussion section.  When you click on one of the coins, you will be taken to a page where there is a video about Challenge Coins.  This would be a special gift especially connected to their Boot Camp days!  Another really sharp coin is the Core Values one in the section where 70 other coins are available--it has cut outs and a diamond cut beveled edge.  These coins are no longer given out by the Navy to the Sailors, so it is up to friends and family.

Lala... Can u please put your link up for your ribbons. I can not find it??? Hope everyone is having a great Friday. Only two weeks left and I have started to make my list for things not to forget !!! I can't wait!!! Does anyone know when battlestations would be or if we get a phone call after and when??

Sol,

Click on Diannep's name, this brings you to her page. On the left, click Add as Friend and a little box will open up for you to comment what you need. If it's a Battlestation date, please include your SR's ship & division number.  She will respond with a message.  Please read that message before you hit Accept or it will go away.  You don't have to hit Accept at all if the BS date is all that you need, but be sure you read the info.

Nvydad,

The parking pass does not have any names on it.  If your SR did update the list, he should have either verified it in one of his letters or on a phone call which he "may" be able to make soon if his division has earned another reward flag.  Keep your phone handy today~~

Thank you all for the warm welcome! I do have one concern; there was a change in guest which I have notified my son about; he has not yet confirmed that he has taken care of the name change. Do any of you know if the Pass we are to download next week will have the names of guests on them or is it just a generic parking pass with no names? I'm hoping the pass has names so I can see if he updated the list.

NVYDAD..welcome!

It is great to have you on board! I know in my family my husband lets me handle all of the networking and communications..he always asks me, "What are we doing this weekend?"..he knows I am the planner..he just goes with the flow. I finally had to ask him when he was going to write our son and he said, "You already tell him everything, what could I add to that?" But I had to remind him that when our son reads my letters it is my voice he hears..you could write the exact same words, but it would be your voice he hears." Needless to say, he wrote a beautiful letter and mailed it out that night. In general, I think men handle this change in a family much differently than a mom does. No matter what..we are all here to support these wonderful kids who have made the awesome decision to put that uniform on and serve! Oh May 31st just can't get here fast enough..have a great weekend my Navy Family :)
