OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Just sent a copy of the N4M questionnaire found in the dicussion form to my son. I know it will not only make him smile but I can get the 411 about the division and his experience. I know my son does not like to give a great deal of detail, so the questionnaire should help. Really soon to ask but has anyone heard from their recruit other than the form letter? Recognizing that they are extremely busy, I look forward to hearing from them.

Me too! Just got the form letter today and excited to have a firm graduation date...time to book the plane tickets!! :) We haven't heard anything from our son other than his call from the airport, and then the 2:30am call to tell us we would receive his box o' stuff (which we received 4 days ago). From what I've read, they usually get to call around week 3, right?

Just got my formal letter today. I found out yesterday after a call to his recruiter which division he was in. I agree now that I have a PIR date, can really research airline fares. Did a brief search prior but now I get to really dig and find the best fares.

Oh my, another son leaving so soon?? What branch will he be going into? I've already been thinking about my next one heading out the door (to military or college or WHATEVER) in 2 years and I dread it, after going through this with son #1...how are you coping?

I think because the boys have both been so excited about this (both Navy Nukes), that it really helps me to manage my emotions. They were kind of hoping to go at the same time, but for whatever reason, the recruiter wasn't able to make that happen. They are identical, so maybe it will be easier for them in some ways, not being confused with each other! They are very close, but don't seem to mind either way. Kevin is leaving on 5/8 and is really getting antsy waiting around. I was told they may catch up with each other in Power School. I hope so...

Good Morning All! Just got my form letter yesterday from my son John, just to see a little bit of his handwriting does my heart well! James, my oldest son, graduated in 2008 and knowing what to expect I thought I would be ready for John's leaving, the lack of communication, receiving the "kid in the box" , etc. but it is still very emotional for me. Graduation ceremony is awesome and now its exciting to get busy planning - having the date definitely provides a focus. I can't say enough about NavyforMoms! The information and support it provides is invaluable and can't be found anywhere else. Within my older's son's group on N4M's we were able to get and share recruit names from our sons who were not getting any or little mail and sent notes/cards of support to these recruits. From what we heard it really helped moral within the division. Well I'm off to the post office - out of stamps...oh no!

Hello all, just got the letter yesterday too. Was anyone else a little bit, well, heartbroken maybe that he used your first name in the "Dear..." line? I don't know why I was looking for some bit of personal "Mom I miss you!" That could be read between the lines. I also cracked up over the all CAPS printing. I know they do that but my son actually has good hand writing so the all caps was messy for him. LOL
Im aching inside too, now that we know PIR is 6/1 for sure, I was hoping it wouldn't be. 365 days in the year and my sons PIR just happens to be the exact same day as my dtrs high school graduation! How do you clone yourslef to be in GL and California at the same time?
off to write him some letters. When someone does get names of recruits who aren't getting letters from home, im in for writing to them! Will be glad to do that! Thanks N4M! -
