Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Also, just want to let you all know that the Facebook page for U..S. Navy Recruit Training Command usually posts many pics of PIR. If you spot your Sailor in these pics, you can Download them to your own computer by clicking on the pic, then going down to Options to download OR you can right click and Save Picture As to your computer~~

Yea, I do wonder how the other 90% of families even get through Boot Camp without some sort of group like Navy for Moms to help them through...

I just noticed this has changed to an alumni group! Woo hoo!! Everything went according to plan as far as I could tell CATMOM. We took Sarg's shuttle to PIR then rode back with Beertjes. The only things we missed was picking up his pictures. And wasn't sure how to get back on base to do so. But we called yesterday and they are mailing them so no big deal. The Meet and Greet was a lot of fun and he have us detailed directions. Oh and our DIV won the dance contest! (Thanks to Beertjes's beautiful kids!) lol
The Navy lodge was great, and it was fun going around to check out the different door decorations. (There were a lot fewer then I expected) I was surprised by the number of people who had no idea about N4M or the FB pages even. I almost felt sorry for some of them because they seemed clueless. I also wondered how they got through without the support! So spread the word. I gave the address to a couple people even now.
