N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Thanks Dianne, she isn't real happy about living so far from home but I told her to give it a chance. I think she will like it better when she meets some other Navy wives with babies and starts school :) I am super excited about the trip. I leave tomorrow :)

Just a reminder...

For those of you looking for a special gift for your SR-soon-to-be-Sailor, I got a couple of these Challenge Coins for my Sailor daughter when she graduated PIR last year, please check out www.pirgifts.com. Challenge Coins are a military tradition.  Craig, who is one of the veterans on Navy for Moms, designed the ones that are connected to the ships at RTC.  The name of your SR's ship is right next to the ship number in the Discussion Forum.  When you click on one of the coins, you will be taken to a page where there is a video about Challenge Coins.  This would be a special gift especially connected to their Boot Camp days!  Another really sharp coin is the Core Value one--it has cut outs and a diamond cut beveled edge.  These coins are no longer given out by the Navy to the Sailors, so it is up to friends and famiily. My Sailor daughter thought her USS Hopper (Ship 03) coin was "cool."

Nadinejune:  Just meet her at the airport to give it to her and hopefully that outfit will fit into her backpack.

Comment by Nadinejune on May 31, 2014 at 11:12am

I am wondering if things will "fit" my SR...I also read that if it can't fit in the "Black" issued backpacks to mail it later.  I would love to bring her one civilian outfit but she is flying to A school in Pensacola...Hmm...:-)

Good Morning!

Beertjes'Mama:  You can give it to him after he moves over to GL A School base, if he is staying.  Or....at the airport if he is flying out.  Yes, they can have a few civilian clothes (same exchange method as for the phone).  They cannot wear these until they phase up, and you can ship the rest of their clothes to them once this happens.
