Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!
Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!
Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Yes, stop the letters about a week before PIR, but if you want to continue sending them, make copies of them and take the copies to PIR. They do not receive mail on PIR day.

Jacob94: If he missed the division photo, no, he will not be in it. Not sure if those are taken the same day as the individual shots. He should be able to "make up" his individual shots though.
Lala: SO glad that you had so much time with her and the baby. I know it is hard to know she is so far away, but look forward to your trip....which I'm sure you are doing! And your first plane ride! I think you will love CA....it is beautiful out there.
So glad that she is moving on to the next stage of her journey!

Gosh guys! I just caught the last 20min of the livestream and found myself sobbing! So emotional and proud! I have to think of a new word to describe the pride I have inside. Can't wait to meet all of you. Make sure your loved ones who can't make it, have access to the site. Its very well done.

Another question: my SR missed pictures because of being SIQ- will there be another opportunity and will he be in the group DIV photo?

Hi everyone, well my daughter made it to San Diego, so hard to believe she will be living there for the next 4 years. This week was her 4th anniversary of being in the Navy and now she is a Veteran and a Navy Wife. So although she isn't a sailor anymore she is still very much in the Navy life. She is going to talk to a recruiter in San Diego about joining the Navy Active reserves and she will also be going back to school to finish her degree. I sure am going to miss having her on the east coast. I have had her and my grand baby here for almost a month and they have kept me super busy. Between that and my business I haven't been on here as much as I would like. I will try to be here more, I will be in San Diego in a few days to visit and help them get unpacked and of course see as much of CA as possible. If you live in that area let me know, We are having a Navy Mom meet and greet June 7th, while we are there :)
I know right now 8 weeks of boot camp seems like forever but believe me when I say those 8 weeks will pass much more quickly than you think. And the next 4 years will fly and you will be wondering where on earth the time went.

Beertjes'Mama: The I'm a Sailor call comes the day they finish BattleStations. Remember, it is a 12 hr overnight drill, so they don't finish until the next morning....however, the calls don't come in until after 2pm Central that afternoon....but it will be a wonderful call! :-)
