OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Oh my, illness is part and parcel of Boot Camp because of all the immunizations and different folks from all over the world.  Praying for all who are ill to spring back quickly and for the protection of others' health~~

Hello All!!

Jacob94mom:  Remember, the first 2 PFAs are more like practice....even if they pass those, they have to pass the 3rd and final one before they can do BattleStations and become sailors.  So try not to worry.  Believe it or not, pneumonia for some of them is more common than you would think and you know what?  Most of them still manage to catch up in training and pass!  So hoping that your SR can feel better soon and will be full-strength by the time those SRs take their final PFA!

Ok moms- just got a letter! But now I'm worried- he failed his second PFA because he is sick and couldn't breath to run (only made three laps) he said about 20 of them are sick (03/199) one went to medical and has pneumonia. He doesn't want to miss anything so doesn't want to go to medical. Ugh!! He only has one more chance right???

Other then that they are doing good- earned another flag!

Just got a text from my mom with a pic of the letter she received today - our SR said she is "crazy busy" and doesn't have much time to write.  She sounded like she was having a great time though!!  Said she only has 3 weeks left and they are all super busy.  Can't wait to get home from work and get my letter!!
