OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I got a call from my SR @7:21 that made my day complete. It's the not know that's so hard. This has really made my faith in God stronger. As everyone else the call was short but still better than the first call I received. I will continue to pray for our SR Ship 09 Div 201 we are half way there. Some proud of our guys;)

that's good to know because I waited all weekend and no call, at least I know why now and that they didn't get in trouble!  I pray they are all safe though.

Just got a five min call from my son. He's div 202. He said that they were going to NEX to make calls but it was canceled because of the weather and that they would get to make longer calls some other time. Great Mother's Day gift!!

I just saw on the FB page they were cancelled because of the weather. I can attest to that as I had to drive home from work on lightning, wind and rain. By the time it got here it had been downgraded. I'm on the other side if Lake MI.
