Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Beertjes'Mama: Actually, you cannot walk from Navy Lodge to RTC. There is no place to walk! ellen has some piks to post to show you. So you will need to either drive it or call Sarge and take his shuttle ($3/pp each way). You can sign up at his MeetandGreet or call/text him 847 212 0246 or email him: johnspadaro@att.net

Diannep- we were planning to drive we have a handicap parking permit. But I will check into the shuttle and Old Sarge as well. Thanks!

Jacob94Mom: Gates open at 6:30, so I would be sure to be there....are you driving or taking a shuttle? A shuttle may be a bit easier....they bypass the car line and drop you off right there at the front gate. If you can contact Sarge and tell him your situation (that you need to be there early to get first row seating for your husband), I feel sure he can make sure you are one of the earliest shuttles there. 847 212 0246 or email: johnspadaro@att.net

It would be best to call PAO and ask them. I would get there as early as possible and ask for assistance with getting into the PIR hall. They can take him in a wheelchair to the hall and then he can sit on the bleachers instead of the wheelchair. The seat feel up pretty quickly so getting there early is best.

Question about PIR seating- my husband has muscular dystrophy, although he isn't in a wheel chair can't climb a lot of stairs. Is there a way to guaranty lower area seating without having to be first in line or using a wheel chair?? I have read about handicap parking and seating but it seems to just specify wheelchair.

I "second" what Lala said below about the divisions not behaving! Many times, an entire division will be threatened to be setback. Just know that divisions are not setback, but individuals can be. But they will tell the SRs this to motivate them to work better as a team.
