Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!
Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!
Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command
RTC FACEBOOK FAMILY AND FRIENDS: We will be pushing back Trivia Tuesday this week to Wednesday. I know Trivia Wednesday does not sound as good as Trivia Tuesday. But, it is better than cancelling the contest for this week.

Thanks everyone, we are very grateful that they were not more serious hurt. Cars can be replaced, people cannot.
Good morning everyone :)
Try not to worry too much about divisions who haven't gotten it together yet and the chatty recruits. They are dealing with 70 to 80 young men and women ranging in age from 17 to 30's who are from all walks of life, different backgrounds and maturity levels and it does take time to get them all on the same page. They will be threatened a lot but they always get it together in the end. By BS time they will work together like a fine well oiled machine :)

@Liz819 in one of the letters my boyfriend wrote me he said that he was on head duty and that they called themselves the Nasty 9 haha. They're probably together on that. He also mentioned a group that could be pretty loud. Haha

My son (ship14 div 197) called again yesterday ( the time has only been 12 minutes, cause there is other people in line to use the phone). He says food is great, he has to do night watch; so some nights he only gets a few hours of sleep. He also says there is a few in his group that just don't know how to shut their mouths (chatty) and are getting in trouble- so they all pay. He also said Friday during a PT course- a few were not listening/and not doing what they were told - BUT were told they were going to pack their things and send them home. Some are not on the same page - wow- TEAMWORK
