OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Just picked up my daughters box at Fed Ex.  I missed him this morning and drove through some neighborhoods to try to find him so don't worry about the stalking, we all have done it haha!

Received the box and letter yesterday from our daughter.  She is Ship 14 Div 197.  Already making those 6/13 plans for Great Lakes.  This site and the many forums and groups have been a life saver for me since she told us last July that she was joining the Navy!  I know she was shocked at the temperature difference when she got off the bus, it was in the 80's when she left Florida on the 15th....and I think it was around 20-30 at GL...that was the first of many shocking things coming her way...LOL

Bears'Mom, The form letter can take between 1-3 weeks, but usually arrives in about ten days. Don't worry if it takes a while, it isn't mailed until the division is full and has moved into their training ship.

Hey everyone! My son arrived on the 16th. He called Saturday night, because he needed information for his security clearence. He was able to tell me he is a 900 division and will PIR on 6/13. I have been a Navy wife for well over 21 years, but I'm still learning about being a Navy mom. My oldest son will leave for Great Lakes 6/10. This is a lot for a mom to deal with, but this site has been a gift from a God! The kid in a box arrived today, and I'm stalking the mailman for the form letter. :)
