Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Good morning, I can't believe how close you all are getting to PIR. I know how excited you are to get your Sailor calls and be on your way to Great Lakes.  :-D  It was a very exciting night at my house last night. Our Sailor is home, Whoooo Hooooo. OMG, it is so good to have her home again. It has been 3 months since we saw her and that for just 2 days. This time we have her for 10 days and it feels so good to have her here. Her baby bump is getting so big and she is so adorable. Her Sailor hubby didn't get to come with her this trip. We are going to be making all kinds of goodies this week for the new baby about to take over our lives. Well, she pretty much has already taken over our lives and she isn't even here yet lol. The babies name is going to be Eastyn and I will post a pic of what i already made for her :) I am sure we will be on a mission to a fabric store today or tomorrow lol. So many fun things we can make. I know you all super excited to finally see your Sailors and it won't be long at all now, I am super excited for you :)

We'll be leaving in about 2 hours for our trip up north.  Stopping at relatives along the way.  Thanks for all the support, ladies.  This is a long journey, and I know I can't make it without you.

OMG, I printed my parking pass!!!!  I can't believe it, it's finally our turn... Talk about crying, I was sobbing watching the printer print out the pass, now I'm laughing!!!

A MOTHER'S TEAR

"Why are you crying?" he asked his Mom. "Because I am a mother" she told him.

"I don't understand" he said. His Mom hugged him and said, "You never will"

Later, the little boy asked his father why mother cried for no reason. "All mothers cry for no reason" was all his dad could say.

The little boy grew up and became a man still wondering why mothers cry.

So he finally asked God, "God, why do mothers cry so easily?"

God said,"You see son, when I made mothers, they had to be special.

I made their shoulders strong enough to carry the weight of the world, yet gentle enough to give comfort.

I gave them an inner strength to endure childbirth and the rejection that many times comes from their children.

I gave them a hardiness that allows them to keep going on when everyone else gives up, and to take care of their families through sickness and fatigue without complaining.

I gave them the sensitivity to love their children under all circumstances, even when their child has hurt them very badly.

This same sensitivity helps them to make a child's Boo-boo feel better, and helps them share a teenager's anxieties and fears.

I gave them a tear to shed, It's theirs exclusively to use whenever it is needed.

It is their only weakness.

It is a tear for mankind."

I was thinking the closer I got to PIR, the better I would be. Honestly I think I could have cried at the drop of a hat the past couple of days. Just thinking about everything coming up.

FLA Navy Mom - Congats and good luck to your son in GW Aircraft.

 

I am worried about the PIR list as well. My SR said he would update it, but of couse if he was home this is something I would of had to remind him about all of the time. Fingers crossed its updated.

Do we ever stop shedding tears over our children? :'-). Sad ones, happy ones...just like you said JJ4Navy...every emotion possible.
