N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Evan'sMom:  Comfortable shoes are a MUST on PIR day.  There is some walking involved...and climbing too into bleachers.

Also, the wind off the Lake can be a factor, so a light jacket/sweater is a good item to bring (helps if PIR Hall gets chilly too).

And you will see all kinds of dress there.  But your sailors will be in their finest so keep that in mind!  But comfort is very important, so dressy or business casual is suggested.

auhi:  You are correct.  The 900 divisions can go anywhere from Sun-Tues night of PIR week.

Comment by diannep on June 3, 2013 at 8:27am

BattleStations for this group should start mid-week.  We are not allowed to post the actual dates here on N4Moms but can private message.  If you received a date from your SR, please post that you have one for division ___ and let others message you for it.  They do not have them on Fri/Sat nights and not always on Sunday nights either.  In May, there were 5 PIR groups and only 2 had Sunday night BattleStations.

Here is the general BattleStations info:

auhi00, you are right. We have been standing in spirit right by their side. I can't believe how emotional i got just reading your post.. How touching!!!

I can't wait till next Friday!

Comment by auhi00 on June 3, 2013 at 6:14am

Can you believe it were almost there!  Ok our SRs are almost there but hey we all know that in spirit we have been standing right with them every step of the way.

I believe Battle Stations starts towards the end of the week.I'm sending super good luck wishes in all my letters .  Our 931 div probably won't do it till Sunday or Monday from the way it's been talked about and with them having to do the Friday PIR. I imagine they don't want them tired for that.

Evan'sMom,

I would say that it is nice casual and family oriented.  You should be comfortable waiting for PIR to start at 9:00 am (you are advised to get there before 7:00 am), for climbing up and down the metal bleacher stairs, and walking over to the NEX after PIR.  You can change to dressier clothes for dinner at a nice place, but I really don't think that's necessary at all.  Your new Sailor would just want to spend time with you in the hotel room, relaxing I bet!!  Don't forget to bring a comfy change of clothes for your Sailor to lounge around or take a nap in your hotel room~~

Good Morning,

Auhi00, I'm so happy for you!!! I'm also happy for all who have received letters. Doesn't that just make your day?  I thought for sure I would hear from my SR this weekend because in his letter he thought he would get to call but he didn't.. I'll just have to wait till Wednesday to get a letter. 11 days and we can all hugs our children... Oh happy day!!!

Is PIR dress code dressy? casual? for families?

Comment by diannep on June 2, 2013 at 10:35pm

nahuati:  Wow....what to do?  I hope you didn't get penalized when you cancelled your travel arrangements?  I can imagine that you are emotionally confused right now...not knowing exactly what he wants.  Hope you can speak with him soon.
