OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

diannep thank you for the info.

The Navy Lodge has no vacancies. We still have our reservations at the Ramada. Its only 2 miles to the Saloon, so we're good. I need prayers. I'm getting on my husband's nerves. Trying to have all my ducks in a row, but he and my daughter are last minute people aaaaahhhhh!

SMB:  Welcome!  So glad you found the group.  Please be sure to ask your SR for the password from the form letter.  You will need that to download the gate pass if you plan to drive on base.

Good hotels to check into are:  Navy Lodge Great Lakes, Springhill Suites Waukegan, Courtyard Inn Waukegan, Residence Inn Waukegan, Holiday Inn Express.  We have had good reports from all of these!

Check out Southwest Airlines into either Chicago-Midway or Milwaukee for your plane reservations.  There is no change fee should you need to change your tickets (i.e., SR delayed for any reason) and 2 bags check for free.  Milwaukee is about 45 minutes from Great Lakes; Midway is about an hour.

Just a few suggestions for you!

Deedee:  No one has reported any BattleStations to me yet.  I'm hoping some ladies who get them from their SRs will message them to me.  I have an idea when some are divisions are going, but don't know for sure yet.
