OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

We live on the Gulf Coast.  We're staying at the Holiday Inn Express in Waukegan.

SHEWOLF -  My husband and I are going to the meet and greet at Sarge's on 6/13.  We'll see you there.

vysc3....where did you find the list of things needed for PIR?  Sorry have not been on here in a couple days and having trouble finding the list you are talking about.  Hope everyone is doing good...we are almost there!!!!!  I will also be flying out on the 13th.  Just watched the video from past PIRs and started tearing up just watching that so I know I will be balling like a baby when I get to actually see it for myself.  Probably wont be wearing any makeup that day LOL.  Hope everyone has a great day

Is anyone with an SR  PIR 6/14 Ship 14 Div 224 staying at the Navy Lodge 6/13 and going to sarges meet and greet 6/13 ?

Comment by FLA NavyMom1501 on May 29, 2013 at 12:58pm

Willsmom - I'll send you the password in a message to your page.

You are probably better off taking the shuttle.  We are driving to Great Lakes, but I'm planning using a shuttle to go on to the base.  I understand they take you very close to the building for PIR.  This way you don't have to worry about the traffic getting in.

Check your message box for the password in case you need it later to bring your SR back on base.

FLA NavyMom1501 - I believe there is a charge.  When he writes me back I will let you know.  Are you also staying at the Navy Lodge?

I just found a Group for Florida moms.  I'm not sure if anyone is still on it.  I just noticed it

Willsmom - Is there a charge for Sarge's shuttle?

Comment by willsmom on May 29, 2013 at 12:48pm

I just contacted Sarge to set up a ride to PIR from the Navy Lodge.  Anyone else want to ride with us?? I wonder how many he can take at once.  So excited!!!
