Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Thanks for the encouraging words. My head knows everything you are saying but my heart is just sad. Could also be the crummy weather we have had, just gloomy days... But I am going to be upbeat from now on.

                          I do feel better that---oh it's only 16 days..

DeeDee:  We left our hotel at 6:30 on the shuttle, arrived at 6:40, into PIR Hall by a few minutes after 7.  There was already a good number of people in there....top and bottom rows in our division section were full already.  We had 9 divisions in our PIR group, just like this PIR group does.  So I would plan to be at the gates as close to 6:30 as you can (that is when they open).

I'm excited to meet everyone...I know it will be here before we know it, I'm just ready today! lol!

BTW- weather here is in the low 50's and raining :(

Thanks, Diannep.    I would love to get another call.  But, I figure the next one will be the "I'm a Sailor" call...   In the meantime, I wait by the mailbox.  Thursday is the day I usually get a letter.  Soon...

FLANavyMom:  They can feel stressed when making "need info" calls like that...because there are Navy personnel standing right there with them, listening to all they are saying!  Hoping you get a personal call soon where maybe he will be more relaxed.

Lori ship 12 div 228: You and me both. What is with this weather? Two weeks from tomorrow I start my journey to see my SR. Do you believe it? I love that clock up top. Makes me realize how quickly time is passing.

Its hot alright. We hit 97 today. I think I'm packing a jacket. Thank you for the scripture, I'm definitely passing it on to my son. Also, the flower, it did put a smile on my face. I would put a smiley, but don't know how to do that stuff.
