~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

willsmom: Just remember, these first few weeks are very hard for them in many ways...emotionally, physically, mentally. So expect some negativity for a while....it gets better as they get more into their training days.
Seamom - my son left for BC on April 16 too. I didn't hear from him when he arrived, but I did get a call from him last night. He said he had mailed his form letter a couple of days ago and my husband just emailed me to say the form letter came in the mail today. Hopefully, your's will be there when you get home tonight.
Sea Mom: It can actually sometimes take 2-3 weeks to receive the form letter. Not sure why, but hopefully yours will come this week. The recruiter most likely can give you no info other than contact info, and that sometimes changes. Better to wait for the form letter. Write the letters, slap on the address when the form letter comes, and mail them all at once!
Well, my SR called late yesterday and boy did he sound miserable. Just so so deflated and discouraged. Said they were on hold and haven't started any physical training. I know once that starts he'll feel better. His voice cracked and I asked if he was sick, no. My heart is so heavy for him. I know this will be good in the longrun, it's just hard for me to grasp now. He was able to call his gf also. don't know if that him feel better or worse...... Love the countdown clock and weather report.
Seamon, my son went to RTC on the 15 we received his letter last Thur so hopefully you will get yours today or atleast by Wed. I don't think they send them out all at the same time. I got a phone call Sat from my son and said that some recruits had already starting getting letters so I told him that we had just got his address and he had some in the mail. So they must get sent out a different times but surely it is on its way, I know the waiting and the not knowing can get frustrating
My son left for BC on April 16. We got "the box" April 22 but haven't received "the form letter" or any phone calls other than the call upon arrival at RTC. Should we check with the recruiting office to get an update? Just wondering if it should take so long to receive"the form letter"? Thank you for any info. Seamom

Good Morning All !
Good morning everyone! I was talking to a mom in another group and she was telling me about the letter writing guide (under BootCampMoms). There are some great surveys on there to send to your SRs. Funny and light hearted. I know my SR is not the biggest writer so this may help get me some info in a funy way, with only little work on his part. Just wanted to share.
Glad to see a lot of moms received calls this weekend. I am hoping mine comes soon too!
today I got a 30 minutes call from my son, I was so happy when I saw the 847 area code, he said he's doing good, the food is good and a lot He sounded in good spirits, told me I will be getting a whole bunch of letters in one envelope, can't wait to read his letters. hope everyone gets a call soon.tonight I am going to sleep like a baby. God Bless.
Just heard from my son! First time since he left on April 16th. He said he is Ship 12 Div 227. He said something like he was in Ship 9, but he got moved. Not quite sure what they means. It was so great to hear from him. He sounded tired, but said the food is good. He said that 1-1 day is Wednesday. They have been in a P-hold for several days. Didn't say why. He only had 3 minutes to talk. Said he mailed the form letter a couple of days ago. I can't tell you how relieved I am to have heard from him.
