N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I received a sweet call yesterday, it was so good to hear his voice. my son is Ship 03/ Div 221. Can not wait to see him 6/14. I don't know when he will be able to call again. If you didn't get a call yesterday atleast you know that it is coming SOON! I am praying for all our recruits and their MOMS. This has been really hard. I am so proud of him but just miss him soooo bad. Couldn't even finish getting ready for church this morning- just went to pieces not knowing how long it will be before we hear from again :-(

Thanks mam4real! Makes me feel better to know someone is waiting just like me. I'm going to book our room today. Can't wait to hear from that brat and hear his laugh too! :)

Hi all!  Looks like some moms had some great phone calls this weekend.  I have mine glued to my side, even to take the trash out. I would be sick if I missed.

diannep thanks for the info about not calling the number back in the event I missed. I would be tempted to do just that.

bella looks like our SR are on the same. Ship 09/ Div 226.  I rec'd my form letter Friday but that is it so far.  Our calls will come soon :-)  Miss hearing his laugh.

We have our hotel booked too. The AAA rate was actually cheaper than the graduation rate.

Hi all! My son left 4/17 for BC. Recived his firm letter Friday. He is in Ship 09 Div.226. Anyone else have a loved one in that group? No call or letter yet. Missing him so badly. :(

...Navy Lodge is another popular choice.  Very reasonable, very near RTC....you book in your SR's name.

JJ4Navy:  I personally recommend Sarge's MeetandGreet.  Flanagans seems to not really have one anymore.  Ramada's is nice, but doesn't have the info that Sarge's does.  He puts alot of effort into his, informing you of things for PIR and the weekend---gets his food from restaurants and we hear it is good (it is free to you, but he accepts donations there since he and his wife pay out of pocket for this each week).  We have had nothing but rave reviews from the families who attended his, and his is the most crowded from what we have heard from previous groups---he wasn't doing this when I went to PIR ages ago....I didn't even know about Sarge!  He has a shuttle service to, from the airports and around town/PIR, for those who want to use it.  He gives a break to Navy families and encourages them to share one of his cabs to save money!

We stayed at Residence Inn Waukegan and really liked it.  4-5 miles from RTC....they use the PIR shuttle service which we took (you book your time when you check in).  $3/pp each way, sailor returns with you (if not staying in GL for A School, which would mean moving over there right after PIR by bus).  It is a pet friendly hotel too!  Close to Sarge's MeetandGreet.....Springhill Suites and Courtyard are also right there....both good hotels too.  There is a big Walmart there with a number of restaurants.  I had been advised by a person work works at A School up there that Ramada is not in a "safe" area.  However, we have not had much feedback from those who have stayed there that this was a concern for them.  But we do get "mixed" reviews on the quality of the hotel. Read the internet reviews on any hotel you are considering is my advice.

Wherever you decide to stay, be sure to ask for the Navy Graduation discount.  Call the hotel directly, not the "general" hotel line.  Also, there is a water park nearby so hotels like these book up fast in the summer.  So since there is usually no penalty to cancel or change (usually up to 24 hours before arrival) if you book directly with the hotel, we advise you to book now....you can always change or cancel later.  Better to be safe and get a room!

Good Morning All!

Just curious & need insight from veteran moms.  Any suggestions or preference for "meet & greet"....old sarge or ramada or other??? Also, recommendation on hotel?  Want to book lodging and plan trip so we are prepared and have time to ask questions & feedback.

They only have to pass the swim tests once.  But they will have to pass the pushups, situps and run in the 3rd PFA (first two are just practice) before they can do BattleStations (they are sailors after they finish BattleStations).

I also got my call this morning.  Was so excited because it was unexpected.  Didnt think it would be this soon.  My SR also passed his swim test yesterday.  He was excited about that.  Now on to the next text.  Congrats to everyone else who got their calls....hang on for those who havent received theirs yet.  Know its coming soon.
