~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

JJ4Navy: The ship number is the barracks number. There are several divisions housed in a ship. Usually the calls are by division number. Even then, not all SRSs will get to call. Some may have "watch," some may be at medical/dental appts, etc. It is so very random. Just keep the phone glued to you during bootcamp....at all times....even when going to in the bathroom or out to get the mail! There have been missed calls in previous PIR groups during those times!
Does anyone know if the whole div 223 gets to make phone calls or is it determined by ship # too?
Good morning all, i just received my first real phone call from my SR.. He said he passed his swimming exam....he said the food is not bad.. the eggs are horrible..... lol...he has div 221 which are the girls with his div 222..... they are the first group to receive there dog tags... they told them to very proud of themselves because they did an excellent job... SO SUPER EXCITED......my first real phone call... he said it is really hard... some people passed out from the work out.... sad face :-(( for those who passed out..... he said they are coming together as a group which if the most important thing I told him.... You have be a team and all will come together after that.....He got his uniform he said he looks good in it... starting to get good at making the bed and folding clothes... lol...... the joy of folding clothes......big HAPPY FACE THIS MORNING in Philadelphia..... :-)) i told him the very PROUD of himself and his team mates..... He said he will be holding the flag at PIR.... very happy for him...... Proud Navy Mom Always!!!!!!
I got a phone call, too!!! Div 223 - big surprise! He said they looked at the schedule last night and it said phone calls home for today. He didn't know how long, but he had a 20 min phone card and used all of it. Hasn't received any of my letters yet, but I told him I sent several this past week. I'm guessing he'll start getting them Monday. He sounded okay. Said it was what he expected.
I received the call that I have been waiting for...my son just called me this morning!!! He said that he was giving 30 minute phone privileges today. It was great to hear his voice and he said that he is the leader of his division...division 222! The excitement in his voice really made me feel so much better, but I he did mention over and over that he missed home and his family. I assured him that the feeling is mutual, that we all miss him dearly. When his recruiter gave me his address a week ago Thursday, I had sent two letters to him right away. He said he received those letters on Wednesday and was thrilled! God Bless our sons/daughters!!!
Yep, Palm trees.Lake Michigan has changed since you were last there. HAHA!
Palm Trees in Chicago on the weather widget??? WOW! :-)
Good Morning All !
LeeAnn: Not sure I am understanding what you were told about the "no change fee" for Southwest? Here is their "no change fee" policy:
http://www.southwest.com/html/air/nochangefee.html
Maybe what that lady was referring to was that you pay the difference in the fare if there is one. But that is true on other airlines too, plus they have a change fee as well.
