Yes, and just a reminder that we are not allowed to post BattleStations dates on here any longer. RTC wants you all to practice OPSEC, which is no discussion about "ship movement" during deployment. Since BattleStations is a drill where they will be tested on every situation that can arise when at sea, they want you to "pretend" that the ship is deployed. So we are not allowed to discuss dates on the page...but they can be private messaged to each other.
Lars: 6-5 is the training week/day count that they will do BattleStations on, not the date.
Paula, although 4 divisions can go at a time, that is not always the case. Sometimes only a set of brother divisions go through; sometimes brothers with the 900 or 800 group, sometimes 4 divisions.
You all please read the BattleStations discussion above for more info.
Lars I know you are just excited and not meaning any harm at all and don't even know if that is the right date but we aren't allowed to post BS dates on the main page so you can just click on the X in the top right corner of your post and and remove it. Thanks so much :-) You can check with Dianne and she may be able to give you the date for your DIV. She does her best to keep up with all that and does a wonderful job.
Battle Stations are usually done in numerical order like Paula said and up to 4 divisions can go in one night. They normally have Battle Stations beginning a week or so before their PIR in case some recruits from the previous PIR group failed it and need to go through it again. They can have them any night of the week but they don't normally have them on Fridays or Saturdays. they do have them on Sundays. They don't have them Friday nights because the Captains Cup is on Saturday and all the divisions participate in that event. It is fun for all of them much like field day in high school and they get to show off what they ahave learned and accomplished.
Lars, only your SR can give out that information. I do know that 4 divisions can go through at once a night. If that's true, 177-180 will be one night, 181-184 will be the next, then your group the next. I don't think they do BS on Saturday and Sunday. My SR does PFA on Monday so I know his BS will be after Monday.
One more thing, they are usually lit around 8pm the night they have battle stations.
It is a tradition to light a blue candle when your Sailor is away and may be going through some difficult times. lighting of a blue candle is a tradition with several different stories. Also, the candle is lit for sailors separated from their families during the holidays, for sailors in danger far away, or to light a sailor’s way home. Here on navy for Mom's it’s also used as a way to mark the time recruits are going through Battle Stations to keep them in our thoughts and prayers and wish them luck throughout the night. Just remember to not leave real candles burning while you sleep. We want you all to be safe. There are electric blue candle available for those who want to burn one through the whole night :-)
Sorry but what is the story behind the blue candles? when do you light them? I haven't come across this yet! Thanks! I am all for the traditions and helping our SR's through with prayer
sharon: Actually, the gate passes should be available to download sometime on Monday, not Sunday. The PAO is not open over the weekend and they are the ones who post the gate pass prompt. Be checking during the day on Monday on the following link:
So close ladies! Tomorrow we can download and print those PIR parking passes. Remember to light those blue candles for battle stations.Say a prayer when you light it and every time you pass it. We are in the final days count down for our SR's Keep the encouraging mail going. Start making that list of what you are going to take to PIR. Mine wants uderwear, pop, hairspray and to get her eyebrows waxed. And since I am lucky enough to have a short drive to base I am taking her favorite cake.
Good morning all. Have a wonderful weekend!
