Good morning all!

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on June 1, 2012 at 7:32am

Good morning everyone. When my daughter was at boot camp I made a questionnaire to send to her. I added in all the questions that I had been asking her in my letters but had not received answers to. I made it a little funny to make her smile and I added a paragraph of encouragement to help her get through battle stations. I added it to the discussions above so you can share it with your recruit as well. You can copy and paste it and print it out to send with your next letter. You may have to tweak it a little bit since my Sailor is a girl :-) Feel free to make it your own. I hope it will brighten your Soon to be Sailors day as much as it did mine. Be sure to include a self-addressed envelope so they are more likely to send it back. And you could make an extra copy or two for them to share with a friend. I would make a whole bunch of copies to send though because the RDC's may frown upon that. I hope you enjoy it :-)

Thanks everyone!!!

Lars that is awesome. I never got an hour long call the whole time my daughter was at bootcamp. But, I think that was because she shared my time with the "then" boyfriend "now" husband lol. Once she even used up all her minutes on her calling card with him then called me collect. Sprint operator said it would be $10 for 10 minutes. EXPENSIVE I know but I would have paid at least 10 times that lol. I hope more calls come in today for those who may not have received one yet.

Congrats Lars! Getting their calls, hearing their voices is absolutely wonderful! ESP when it's good news. Its such a long stretch at first and can be so difficult! Thank God for this site and fb, for all the wonderful moms, really has been a blessing! Def prayers for Delbert, I agree. Perfect sense Lala, great request!

Lars...a whole hour! That's great! Yay Flags and ribbons! I'll bump up the Flags Discussion later and check and see if I posted the Ribbon Discussion that Craig did. If I didn't...I'll add it!

I agree too, LaLa! Thank you for posting the encouragement. I hope you post your wonderful post on every group. I thank all of you too for posting and also especially for PaulaP for taking care of her group. ((((Hugs))))

Happy to say I got a call from my SR today! Finally got to talk to him for about an hour! He and his DIV 186 are doing well. Racking up those flags and ribbons. He sounds great, can't wait for battlestations and PIR. Just 2 more weeks to go. Whoop Whoop. Praying for our PIR group member Delbert59 and daughter, may God's peace and strength be with you.

I agree, Lala!

I know this may sound like a crazy request but It would be great if some of you would check this page daily and comment about news from your soon to be Sailors. We have moms on this group and others who are not comfortable on computers yet and for some of them this is their first experience with any social network. Lots of them don't have facebook and they come here for info. Many have never posted a comment and may never do so. but they do appreciate all the news you share and would love to get to know some of you. I think if there was more activity on the PIR group pages they may come out of hiding and share their news as well. You would be surprised at how many emails I have received from members who are out there looking for some encouragement and new friends.  Thanks so much for those who do post comments here. I know this site is how I survived the weeks my daughter was at boot camp and I still love and appreciate all the friends I made on Navy for Moms; it is near and dear to my heart <3

Delbert, my heart goes out to you and to your daughter! So close to the end and then to get hit with this! Prayers for you both that whatever happens it is the plan God has for her. I can not imagine the emotional strain your both under right now.
