Nothing better than having our sailors forming a flag!
@Lala Ribbon Queen - awesome picture! thanks! Hope everyone has safe travels and has a fabulous time with their sailors!
Safe travel today and enjoy the MeetNGreets tonight!
Get to bed early so you can be on your way to RTC early tomorrow morning...you have a phenomenal day in store for you!
Good Luck Ladies and safe travels! I will be catching my plane out of Houston TX tomorrow morning. Can't believe it's finally here!!!
I had a "zombie" son for the Friday of PIR when we left base, it was a little unnerving at first, but it did go away. Yes, very sure somebody was watching him to catch him doing something wrong. He even looked at women with baby carriages like aliens from some other planet.
The next day was fine he just had to get used to being in that "military bubble" in the outside world. Gentle reminders of cover (hat) off indoors and cover on outdoors. If there is or you are a significant other (whatever shape or form, wife, bf, gf etc.) no PDA, that is a huge no no.
You Sailor will have been briefed on what is allowed and what isn't allowed and they are trying to remember it all that first day when they escape. :) They are still in there they just need to relax a little, which is somethnig they haven't done for 8 weeks of more.
My chatty son was mesmerized as we left the base...speechless. I asked him what was up. He said that this was the first he had seen "outside the base" in close to 11 weeks--well, actually, he arrived there in the dark so this was the first he had seen of anything--- (he was there for Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Years holidays, which backed them up, and also he was asmoed a week). It was so funny seeing him so quiet. He did open up more, but was much more reserved than he usually was.
That is....until my older son's GPS took us to a "closed down" restaurant for dinner...then he became quite animated, telling us that he would just skip dinner because he could not be late back to base (he had 2 hours before he had to be back). They really CAN'T be late back to base...but he still had time to eat, thank goodness. He made sure we got him back to the chapel parking lot (on base) 45 minutes before curfew. Takes a while for them to walk to their ships and they are not allowed to double time or run!
Enjoy everyone! And post on here about your experiences!
