For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture.

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on May 4, 2012 at 8:37pm: Two of my daughters friends were ASMO'd because one gave the other a cough drop. 4 others were ASMO'd because they would not stop talking. Those four learned their lesson and were brought back to their original division a couple days later. They didn't talk anymore.... It just takes some a little longer than others to "get" it.

Comment by Lissette on May 4, 2012 at 8:17pm: Assignment Memorandum - usually it means they were sent back to a later boot camp date because of failing a task (PFA, weapons qualification, etc), breaking a rule, etc. In my first daughters boot camp, one guy was ASMO'd for turning his weapon toward the divider between lanes at the firing range. Later at the end of boot camp, some were ASMO'd because they failed the final PFA.

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on May 4, 2012 at 6:38pm: Also, they have probably just started receiving mail. It takes a couple week or a little longer for them to get into their ship and train a person to handle the mail. It is always a good idea to number or date your letters :-)

Comment by cyndyj on May 4, 2012 at 12:21pm: I realized that my son didn't take or have stamps, that could be the problem. I did send stamps with a letter yesterday. I'm thinking everything is good, just would like to hear it from him. Does anyone know if they receive mail daily or just on pecfic days of the week?

It is kind of strange how my son did not mention anything in my letters to him. Requesting stamps and here I have sent books of stamps in almost every letter sent to him.. I hope he receives ours soon! Especially after hearing that he had wisdom teeth pulled this week .. ugh! Thanks ladies!

Comment by diannep on May 4, 2012 at 10:42am: Tech/Tunes: I would be surprised if they "held" letters like that. We have been told that holding the mail is not allowed....against federal law. That is what someone who works at the GL A School told us. The mail is processed through a small mail center there at RTC and it is possible that your letters just have not gotten into his hands yet--but are there. We have seen posts where they receive letters all out of order at times. Just would be surprised that this was going on...hoping he has received your letters by now!
