veteran moms (I knew I could find you here ~ha)  - Have a question that I can't answer from a depper.  The question "While at boot camp will I be mailing home documents for my husband to get ID's for himself and my step daughter or will they get those once I finish?"

I know they get all this stuff by enrolling int DEERS, but when does that happen?  At what point (week of training) does the family get the authorization (ie dd-1172?) to make it happen?

Do tell....

Shelbysmom, batmomof3 is right.  It's best to stay in the area until Sunday, if possible.  This way if your SR does happen to leave later, you will be able to stay with them at the airport as long as you can.  I would definitely book a hotel now, as dates on rooms can always be changed if you need to do so later on.  If you can fly Southwest from your area, it's a good choice. They allow date changes on flights, usually without cost and also allow you 2 checked bags free.  They fly into Midway in Chicago and also into Milwaukee, WI, which is only about 50 minutes from Great Lakes.

shelbysmom -- I live in NW Indiana, so its just under two hours drive from  our house.  I have made my hotel reservations. The earlier the better on that as there are so many SRs graduating each Friday.  It seems that most of the SRs that are going to A school outside of GL leave on Saturday and you can spend the time with them at the airport, but everything I read on this site says to plan to stay until Sunday or get a changeable ticket because things change constantly.  You'd hate to have to leave on Saturday if your daughter's flight is changed to Sunday!!

If your name is Maryellen and you tried to join the Ship 12/Div 182 FB Group, please request again.  My cursor was right over the decline button and it just automatically declined!!  So sorry!!

Paula -- There are 10 divisions plus the 900 division it looks like.  That can be 800 SRs right?  That's way too many for one group on FB.

Please look in the discussion section and join or add your divisions groups there. I need more peeps in 178!! Where are y'all????

Batmom, how about doing a PIR for the 6/15 group..I don't think it'd get too big but could be wrong. I'll look at it all tonight once I get back from the Stockyards!! Yeehaw!!!

Shelby, I haven't purchased tickets yet and will wait until I hear more from him but I did make hotel reservations at the Homewood Suites.  We will either drive or take a taxi to RTC.  Our hotel shows about 12 miles from there. My SR is also going to A school in San Antonio.  I talked to my friend who is a Captain and he said they usually leave soon after bootcamp. Probably Saturday. Hope this helps. Hang in there!

Hi Paula and Batmom.Have you already purchased your airline tickets or booked your hotels? Not sure how early to do this. I thought I heard Ramada Inn was a good place to stay..then I saw that it wasn't. :(

Feeling a little overwhelmed today..so much to know and for some reason my computer goes VERY slow on this site. Does that happen to anyone else?

How long are you staying that weekend? My daughters A school is in San Antonio so I'm not sure when she will start. How do you find out other than waiting until you get there.

Today is one of those days when I have to remind myslef to breathe..  :)

Paula :)  Maybe we can work together and make the FB group awesome -- we can think about maybe making the one I started combined or creating a different one.  I think that an entire 6/15/12 PIR group would be too large though.  Enjoy Ft. Worth!
