Yes Delbert59, she could be in the performing division. You should get your form letter withing 2 weeks from when she left. Most arrive within 10 days. She would have to volunteer for the 900 division and once she is accepted into that DIV she can then tryout for the band. That division is made up of recruits who have high ASVAB scores and band, choir, drill team, flag corp or marching experience. They take the recruits with high ASVAB scores because they are likely to not need to study as much as others and with the practice time the performing division takes on that is a huge help. The 900 DIV is known as the Triple Threat and it is quit an honor to be a part of that division. Not that any other division is any less honorable. In our eyes all our recruits are AWESOME :-)

You would be surprised at how hard it can be to learn to march, Band geeks are a step ahead lol, pun intended :-)

My daughter went to GL on 4/16. I got the call and the box but not the letter with her address, division or PIR date.  I was thinking ( based on timing) that she would be in this group.  I know that her recruiter convinced her to  volunteer to play in the band for  PIR.  (she has a BA in Music Education with a minor in Jazz performance playing Trumpet).  She is going on to Nuke Engineering, would she be in one of those 900 divisions because of that?

Star- I know its to soon for call, but I miss him so much. My phone is always on me and will be throughout the BC journey! This has been a strength builder for me, as well as for him... As a single mom, WE have never been apart! Technology has come a long way .. just to be able to have other MOMS experiencing this journey together..its amazing! Looking forward to meeting everyone, and I too believe that no news is good news!! Us parents should be so proud! Hugs to you my friend!

We will most likely have a Div186 in this PIR group. Regular Divisions for a TG start with an odd nmber and end with an even. Regular Divisions train together as brother Divisions. so:

177,178; 179,180; 181,182; 183,184; 185,186.

They will also go through BS@! with each other and up to four Divisions may go through BS21 at a time. The Performing Division will go through with a set of brother Divisions.

This happens with SPECOPS also if they are a single SPECOP Division going through.

Ocassionally there will be two to three SPECOPS... or two (and recently we had three) performing divisions. This can happen when RTC has skipped a Week of PIR.

Good morning all!  Here are the divisions for 06/08:

TG 30   7 divisions (171-176, 930)

So this PIR group will start with 177.

Lala -- I'll never leave this site!  I thought a facebook site would be a great place to get to know members who are in the same division as my son so we can share information and perhaps become friends with the families of SRs that are becoming my sons.  You and so many other share some excellent information and I still have so much to learn!  Thank you.  Thanks for the FB tips as well.

That is a good way to look at it Star. Hard to not think about it but a very good approach :-) Keeping busy is the key. And if you all have time on your hands there a lot of great groups and tons of info on this site. There are recipe, scrapbooking and photography groups just to name a few :-)

batmom you may have to post a link on this page for others to find your facebook group. Is it for all divisions or just 182? Just remember you all should try to check in on this page every day and post comments here as well. Some moms who have joined facebook pages stopped coming to this page and missed out on some valuable information. Plus new members who found this group never had the chance to get to know them. And if you guys have any questions please come back to this page to post them so we can answer them for you. If your page is private then it is safe to mention names etc but if it is not it really isn't safe. You never know who has found the page and who is watching. I know they allow it on the RTC facebook page but I have never really understood why. I am a part of several Navy Mom groups on facebook that I was invited to join. Some of them from over a year ago are still very active and it is so cool seeing what their Sailors are all doing now :-) I feel like more a part of some of their groups than I do my own lol because we all talk every week. Some of them have even stayed at my house on their way across country to visit their Sailors in Charleston and I got to meet some others for dinner who lived near Wilmington when we went there to tour UNCW. Facebook can be great I just hate to see everyone loose contact with this page especially when new members find it everyday.

It looks like we will have at least 10 divisions graduating on 6/15. I have seen others post DIV 177 - DIV 185 for the 6/15 PIR date. That would be 9 divisions and then there will be one 900 division and possibly an 800 division. Hopefully it isnt any bigger than 10 or 11. When our younger daugher PIR'd on 8/12/11, there were 13 divisions and it was packed.

Has anyone heard from anyone division 186 or greater that is graduating 6/15?
