KCsMom  Hoping that you heal quickly...and certainly before PIR!  Feel better!

meryl:  Hoping your SR is feeling better soon!

pianomom:  He will have up until the day before PIR to complete his float...not that it will take that long.  But even if it does--once he passes it that day, he will then go through BattleStations that night with the next PIR group and be at PIR...in uniform in the balcony....too tired to march, but a sailor.  But I bet he will make it long before that!

I got a letter today. But, I'm out of town until Monday :-(
My friend said she will bring it to me tomorrow evening when she comes to the Island.
My sons girlfriend got one. He stayed that Tuesday starts hell week. They will be very busy.

Ladies stand strong. Our babies are tough or they wouldn't be there. I along with you long to comfort him. Only three weeks left

I tore a ligament in karate last night, so I have been home all day. Having nothing to do, I started to cry thinking of my son. Sad and proud at the same time.  I have been on this site A LOT today. Thank God for other moms who are going through the same thing as me. My son failed the first fitness test, so I hope to God he passes the next one.

Praying with you, Pianomom.  (This was the 2nd time I've typed your name wrong the  and it comes out "painomom" to which I think , that's what my son would call me in fun!)  Seriously, I'm diligently praying for your son regarding his floating.  My son's letter said they were to take 2nd PTA this week and he thought he'd do fine (he still had to make better time on the run).  VERY short letter printed large, but he still sounded good.  Mentioned being sick, but I'm not sure if that was a continuation of last weekend or if it was sometime this weekend.  WHO KNOWS!  He sounded pumped and that was enough for me.  One funny thing - he's the guidon for DIV 205 (carries the division flag) & we've joked that all those years of marching as a percussionist in the band paid off.  He said he got the job because he was short!  lol ... one time our lack of height brings us a little fun in life.  Have a great evening; enjoy your letters; and I'm praying they'll all be encouraged and we all finish strong the next 3 weeks!

thank you, sisters, for the encouragement.   i know for a fact that I couldn't float for 5 minutes.  i am asking again and thanking you ahead of time for praying for him in the next couple of days--to be encouraged and to be able to float for 5 min.

i am praying for all those SRs who are sick and worn out.  i am also praying for all you moms who are discouraged. when i realized today that i am giving in to discouragement, i also realized that i need to take all this to my Heavenly Father--He knows.   AND He cares more than i can.

Got a letter from my son.  He sounded more pessimistic in this letter but mainly because he got sick again with a high fever, coughing and terrible headache.  He said the medicine the doc gave him completely took away his appetite for food which in turn took away his energy and you don't do well in BC with little energy.  So now I'm feeling really down because he's sick again and I want to take care of him (like all mothers do). It amazes me how many of the recruits get sick in BC.   On a lighter note he volunteered to be in charge of cleaning the latrines. I couldn't believe my son volunteered for something like that!  He hates cleaning the bathroom at home, lol.

Joy- I haven't gotten my letter yet either. I did get one on Monday.

Floating for 5 minutes is hard. I just chaperoned 'drown-proofing' with the 5th grade and they had to float on their stomach's for 5 min's with faces in the water only coming up for air every 6 seconds. It was difficult and my 5th grader couldn't do it. He swallowed water and had to sit out. Especially if they are looking for perfect technique while attempting it. (which I'll be they are)
