Thanks, everyone, for the heartwarming welcome!  I will definitely check out the ribbons that Lala makes.....thanks so much for the info!!  Donna....sounds like our kids are a lot alike.....Kori was on the swim team but she normally wears contacts (her eyesight is her only weakness) and of course you can't wear contacts at bc.....swimming with glasses doesn't work, either, so she couldn't see well enough to advance in that.  But hopefully she'll be able to do that at a later time (when she can wear her contacts again!).  Does anyone know if they can have their contacts at A school?

Donna:  Until Lala gets on here...I will tell you...YES, there is plenty of time but don't wait!  She sends them priority mail and works fast but better to get it done now!

Joy:  Welcome!

About the ribbons...do you mean the ones that Lala makes for you all to wear to PIR...or the ones that the SRs get in bootcamp?  Lala Ribbon Queen makes lovely ribbons, very reasonably priced, for you all to wear to PIR with your division # and SR's name on them.  If you are interested, please find her in the "Members' section above and to the right of these posts.  Her profile icon picture has the ribbons in it.  Click on the picture or her name and look at the ribbons on her page.  You can get in touch with her there if you would like to order some.

The ribbons the SRs get are the multi-colored one they all get for enlisting during time of war....and they also get the black ribbon for marksmenship.  These are horizontal ribbons that they wear on their dress uniforms.

Hi Joy, I am so glad you have found us. Sounds like your daughter is doing well. That always makes a Mom feel good. My son also passed his physical test Nd is the APO (Athletic Petty Officer) for their division. My son is also a fitness fanatic. He was highly into sports and could not of been in any better shape. Good to hear from you.

Okay, so I just found this site and was so excited to join!  My daughter is in ship 11, division 204.  I have not had any phone calls yet.....I found her phone card in the stuff she sent home and I sent it back to her, so I'm hoping I'll get a call soon.  I have received a few letters, and for the most part, they are very upbeat and she is really enjoying the challenge!  She passed her physical first time....she has always been a bit of a fitness fanatic!  Her last letter really made me smile because she said that her nickname is "clown face"; she's very "animated" and always makes people laugh so I'm very glad to know that she is being herself there!  I am soooooo excited about going to her graduation.  I looked at some of the posts (too many to go back and read all) and I am curious about the ribbons.  If you could clue me in, I would so appreciate it!

Thank you, Dianne, for your kind words.  I am finding out things about my son through his experiences at boot camp that amaze me.  He is more mature than I have given him credit for and I find myself looking at him in a new light.  I was so happy he is looking for the good things in people while there and not finding reasons to criticize. I am really looking forward to graduation.  I hope your son is well and I will be praying for him.
