Donna, to make sure we and our son's girlfriend can talk with him we will be doing a three-way conference call.  He had suggested it before he left for Basic.  His girlfriend and my husband and I have been practicing to get it right.  I hope that when your son calls you are the one he calls :0)

Bussinbier, I'm praying we get a phone call today!

Pianomom, we haven't booked a hotel yet for the trip yet either. I was waiting until I knew whether our son would be grad & go or not.  But I realized I should not wait so I'll be making reservations somewhere today.  Does anyone know if the Navy Lodge is a good choice?

Thanks Patty.

Donna, my son had time to call me and his gf so I'm sure you will get a call too!  Oh ladies, Jun 17 just can't get here fast enough.  I really miss my son's happy demeanor and smile!

I bought my son a calling card before he left.  Got it on-line so I could monitor the minutes and add more if needed.  Don't worry Squeekerz - my son's recruiter told him they get monopoly money when they get there to use in the NEX.

Thank you so much!  I'm glad to know that he'll be able to have money even without his card. I was just so scared that we'd miss out on getting a call from him 'cause of lack of money! :D

Squeekerz:  You can buy him a phone card, activate it, and mail it to him.  I agree with Jessica below as my son ran out on his and bought another at the NEX (mid phone call with me...called right back on the new card).  But many ladies mail their SRs cards so they don't have to worry about it.

No phone call yet. I'm very happy for those who got one. It must be nice just to hear their voices. If he only gets one he may call his girlfriend. I don't know. She had told him before he left to call his Mom. We will see. I won't be angry if he calls her instead. A little sad maybe. But, I know he lives her dearly.
