Good morning ladies! This is home base! I did not realize how "attached" to you'll I had become.

The Navy is very detail oriented...hence the not flushing the toilet incident! Or maybe the RDCs/PO's have to find something! Hair or whatever.

I read somewhere that the PT in A school is much more like IT in boot camp!

I think my sailor is a little bored....they went from busy 24/7 to having all this time on their hands....can use his phone on non class time and liberty. They can use a shuttle to get places. According to him the food is not as good as GL. Different cooks can make a difference. He is also working on merit badges.

His BESS school does not start till after the 4th of July. Waiting to  "class up" which I think means they are waiting for another boot camp graduation for more sub sailors.

Squeekerz I will continue to pray for you and your SR.

KC'smon I am glad that your SR s seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

It was nice meeting pianomom, sunnyb (white pants, red shirt and hair up!!!)  and meryl in Chicago.I missed the whole meet and greet because we were in traffic. According to my husband it took us longer to travel 5 miles in Chicago than 170 miles to get there!

Glad to hear the updates from everyone. I feel like this is my home too. Signed up for his A School page but not much chatter there. Wow, Cindy I figured all the tough PT was over. My sailor has some PT but not too bad but he said they are picky about some little things. He got in trouble for his hair the other day at an inspection (Jeez isn't it short enough?) and today because he didn't shave close enough. They also have been doing an indoc week. He has been doing a lot of watches & has to do certain things to collect what he calls "merit badges"

Not too tough, though, cause he has been at the pool twice, been shopping at the Nex, getting to watch a lot of TV and has enjoyed their library.

He is still trying to get his "discharged" status straightened out but it has to be straightened out in DC. I'm glad they are still sending his paycheck, at least. When they get him back in the system then he can do his modules & be able to be on the Navy site he needs to be on.

Got my call today from my  son. He has been in RCU for 28 days now. He already knows he will be there another 2 weeks. Can't wait til he can get back to where he left off. He only had 17 days left to graduate when he broke his foot.  I'm so bummed for him. But, on a good note..... he has now gained seniority in the laundry room. haahaha. Our phone time was cut short b/c just as they were getting ready to go to the phones, the RDC noticed that SOMEBODY did not flush to toilet. Ugh.!! Really, men? So, as punishment they all had to stay behind and clean toilets rather than call their families. So disturbing.  I soooo look forward to my calls with him.

Hi girls!  Just missing you, too, so I thought I'd say hello.  Boy, the things we went through in our 8-9 weeks together.    I'm along with others on the Nuke site, but folks are so many different stages of life in the Nuke world that it makes it a little strange.  My Sailor (isn't that fun to say?!?) is doing well but is a little miffed that the physical requirements at Goose Creek are tougher than they were at BC. That was my biggest concern at BC, but he conquered that hurdle.  Now the guidelines are tighter and there's a new challenge.  Didn't seem to be complaining, just reporting.  I can't remember his exact words (I've deleted 3 diff. things I've typed b/c I didn't want to misquote him), but something like BC was nothing compared to what this was going to be.  I don't think the psychological/emotional part of boot camp was hard on him....he seemed to get what they were doing and be able to play that part of the "game" pretty well. His A School won't begin for a bit, but indoc classes start tomorrow.  Is that typical in all A schools from what you are hearing from your Sailors?  Glad some of us have gone on to each school together!  Take care.   So thankful for all our Sailors have accomplished and will accomplish in the months to come.

He is able to walk around without crutches.  He says he is fine whenever I ask.

Woohoo!! Sounds like everyone's doing good! That makes me smile. I also joined a new group but, like you Joy this is home. I will always return here.
My son is so happy to be back In Florida (Pensacola) he's happy. He said the NEX is like a mall and has only one roommate.

Squeekerz.....glad it worked out for you guys, is he doing better medically?

Hi Sunnyb!  We missed you!  I joined a new site, too, but this one is home =).

Audrey, that is great!  He is going to enjoy life so much more now!  My daughter is always telling me how much fun they're having on weekends....going to the movies, hanging out, etc.  It's such a relief to know the big pressure is off and they can relax a little!

:]  Thank you.  He called and asked me to look for a getaway spot, so his mother and I are trying to find a romantic place to have a few days together before he starts looking for a job and college to attend.  <3  I'm excited.   I still am a little sad he won't be part of the Navy, but he got a medical discharge, so at least no one can say he's just a giant quitter.
