pianomom: By the time you start your trip, hopefully your son is a sailor. The only bad thing would be if he didn't pass his final PFA and finally passed it the day before PIR, which means he would do BattleStations that night in order to be at PIR (in the balcony after having been up all night). Let's hope that doesn't happen! It happens to very few of them....
Although you are doing alot of driving for such a short time, I assure you that you will not regret attending PIR. It is fantastic! I don't think you are CRAZY....I think you love your SR! And that is wonderful! :-)
Hi Meryl, My son is in ship 09 div 208. I haven't heard anything from him besides that first letter. Will you be attending the PIR?
mynavyguy....so sorry your son is ill...I am praying for your son to have a rapid recovery.
i posted this in our ship 11, div 203 group comments, but thought i would also throw it out to the rest of you. my husband is interested to see if we have the oldest SR in any of the groups right now. he is 29 and will be 30 in august.
also, we have done NOTHING toward planning for this trip to PIR--which supposedly might get postponed due to our SR not passing a test or getting sick or injured. we will be driving 12 hours in a rented vehicle with 4 adults, and to keep costs down we will only stay the one night somewhere and then head back home 12 hours the next day for A FAMILY WEDDING!! are we crazy or what? any ideas? (not on the part about us being crazy)
thanks to all

mynavyguy: Will be praying for your SR. So glad that you got the 2nd letter where things were looking better. Bootcamp is up and down...emotionally and medically!
Hoping that he does well. His RDCs want him to become a sailor..that is their goal. The SRs may not agree with their "ways" to get there...but believe me, they know what they are doing! They are very proud of all of the new sailors once they accomplish this.
Hi mynavyguy
Im in the other group that you are in also (ship09,division 206)
Prayers sent for you and your recruit. One positive way to look at his situation is that once he fully recovers from being sick the RDC issue wont seem near as bad as it does right now. We have all been sick and everyday task seem to become very hard to handle. he will breeze right through it when he has his strength back. My son called me Friday to get more security clearance info and he had a sore throat, so I guess the "Ricky Crud" (cold, Flu) is spreading around the division. I asked him if he gets yelled at alot and he said not directly. So if your recruit follows procedure and can keep quiet, etc. he should not be getting harrassed. Eventually they may all get singled out, just some more than others. Your next letter or phone call will be a more postive one.
