Thanks for your 1/2 full words today MamaCindy.
Today I was kinda having a half full thought too, about not hearing from them yet. Maybe it is a good thing we don't hear from them right away while they are adjusting. Even though we are yearning! I know my son, I would have gotten a letter that had every feeling, complaint and misery he was going through on it. (he is a real feeler!) So I would have had been just as miserable then worrying about him after a letter like that. So my only hope is, by now, he has adjusted, found a few friends, laughed a little and found a way to focus on some good things so when we finally get those letters and calls, there will be good things we all can talk about, so we can rest in peace that they are getting along fine.
In my line of work I have a saying.. there is only one way to overcome a negitive, it is to focus on a positive!
With all of the recruits on the base, there is no way that they can allow all to call home on holidays...even Mothers Day. So it is rare that it happens. Just know that there were lots of SRs thinking of their moms today and feeling very grateful! There are at least 700-800 recruits on that base at one time.
Ari'sMom: jessica'smom is correct. Only your SR will know if they are GradNGo or Saturday Departure. So be asking your SR. They usually know by about 3-4 weeks before PIR, if not before.
pianomom- yes, I got my quick hello phone call. I geuss I just thought the kids would be allowed to call their moms. Ha! Geuss I was mistaken. Maybe I'll get a letter tomorrow.
to KC's mom--we were told that if he hadn't given us the 15 second call several days after leaving to say that he had gotten there safely, that we were to call his recruiter here in town so they could check on the situation. did you get that very first call? hope so.
anyhow, we are still waiting for a REAL phone call.
