MamaCindy - my son is 19. He wanted to join the navy to for an opportunity to travel. He was hoping to get a job w/ National Geographic magazine after college but I geuss he thought he could get the Navy to give him a salary and pay for college first. My son's letter was upbeat to the point where I am picturing a chief standing over them screaming "YOU WILL SOUND HAPPY! YOU WILL TELL THEM YOU LOVE IT HERE! YOU WILL TELL THEM YOU ARE HAVING A GREAT TIME!" hahahaa.

I'm so happy for you, Caseysmom!  It felt so good to get my son's letter on Saturday.  I still have it in my purse....I hope my husband doesn't look for it and can't find it!  How old is your son?  My son didn't sound down, either....I'm hoping the months as a DEPper prepared him emotionally for what is going on now.

I got my son's form letter today!!!!!  I cried tears of joy. Ship 11 div 204. I don't know if he's being honest or not, but he said boot camp is fun like summer camp!!  He wouldn't tell me the truth probably anyways.  He knows how I am. Hopefully it is fun!!  He said so far he has learned how to fold clothes and make his bed!!  What a proud mom I am!  hee hee. He also has apparently learned how to write in all capitals. Reminds me of my dad (also Navy).  Goodness I miss my boy so much. I can't stand it.

@Donna646- reading your posts always makes me feel better b/c you sound as lonesome as me. And to think our kids are in the same division. I hope you get your letter today, too.

Hi everyone, I am Lora, my friends call me Lala. I am a veteran mom like some you have already met. Diannep and Jessicab as well as others. I am here to help and answer questions. Each of us veteran moms have had different experiences and no matter what question you have chances are one of us has had the same question and we can help you out. I just returned from visiting my Sailor in VA Beach. It won't be long before you can go to visit you Sailor as well even though right now it seems like forever. The time will pass much faster than you ever thought possible and before you know you will be packing your bags.

My Sailor was in the 900's div, she was in the choir and she was a Grad and Go/Saturday departure. She went to Pensacola for A-school and she is now finished with school and is an AO. She got married during A-school and her husband left 4 days later for bootcamp. He is also now finished with A-school and he is an IT. Welcome to N4M's. You are going to love this site :-) I know right now this is very hard for you but it really will get better. Write lots and lots of letters, every day if you can and let me know if you have any questions at all.
