Hello all

I've read your notes and am so proud of our Sailors. They are continuing on wonderfully. My son left Great Lakes after Graduation and headed to Pensacola. He graduated A school with a 96 on Thursday September 1 then immediately flew home for 16 days. I am so proud of him but, as his time here with us comes to an end I fell saddened. I know he must go. It is his job. So, I will take him to the airport Saturday(Sept.17) hug him goodbye and watch his plane take off as he goes to his next destination, Norfolk, Virginia and then on the USS Harry S. Truman. My heart will be heavy and I know the tears will flow. That's the life of a Mother of a Sailor.

I gotta go I'm making myself cry. Love and hugs to you all

Hello ladies!  I know I said I would keep up with this group, and I haven't done a real good job, but like a bad penny I will continue to show up from time to time!  Kori is still in Great Lakes in ATT school, but should be finishing soon.  Her A school is also at Great Lakes, so it looks like she is going to experience a Chicago winter....brrrrr!!!!   But she is doing great, and has adjusted to Navy life quite well.  I miss her terribly but at least we can Skype often!  She is so hoping that she will be able to go somewhere immediately after A school and before she starts C school........she's ready to get out of Illinois!  Yes, many of the guys have already left for far shores.....one of Kori's friends is leaving for Spain soon.  I don't mind her going to faraway places; she loves travel and got it honestly!  I want her to see the world!  I hope everyone is well, and pray for all of our sailors to be safe where ever they are.

There was a young man in KC's original division (before the fracture)..... he just finished A school and is now in Japan for 3 years. Thank GOD my boy isn't leaving the country.

hi everybody!   it's unbelievable to look at the countdown clock and see that it's been 78 days since i have seen some of you.  and it's good to hear that all the sailors are still going forward.

our guy will get his orders today supposedly.  he is not very excited at this point, because he won't get his first picks, but i know that GOD KNOWS where he needs to be.  and it will be very good to see him and then cry our eyes out when he leaves again.  not sure exactly when graduation will be for him, but we think somewhere around the 2nd week in october.  love to you all today and happy holiday weekend.

@MamaCindy we are both excited. He had to make a choice about which of two units he wanted to be attached to. One was pretty mundane & boring. He picked the other which is going to be very exciting but can't say much about it for security reasons.

@fa4airtran - he likes it pretty well. I can't say he "likes" the studying which there is so much of, but so far he's making it. I think A school ending around the end of the Sept. then there'll be a bit of a wait for the next school which lasts 6 months. So glad your sailor is home! Happy for Truffles! I'm looking forward to the reunion with our dog, too! I can't wait to see that. It'll be 6 months apart before she sees him. She's gonna go NUTS!
@KCmom - maybe he'll get back to the west cost again someday! You never know where their paths will take them.

My son is in California (Monterey) and has been to Cannery Row and Big Sur Mountain and told me he never wants to live on the East Coast again!!  Bad news for him....he's only in A school for 15 months and then guess what? He is stationed in North Carolina.
Comment by fa4airtran on September 1, 2011 at 12:55am

The good news is.... He's home!!! Bad news is...Won't see him till tom night cause I am flying. He had an indoc day at NAS Atlanta today & learned more about what he will be doing as a reservist. Truffles (our dog) went nuts when she saw him.

@MamaCindy How does he like it?

Audrey..... a little advice to ya. This time if your cell phone rings when you are sitting at a diner at a state line...DON'T ANSWER IT!! Just keep on driving! so excited for you- no turning back this time. You will get to see your sailor! (jealous)

Fantastic, Audrey! We were able to go weekend before last and had a great visit at Goose Creek & Charleston. Can't believe it's been so long since you've seen him. Have a blast!
