Thanks Patty for the info, he did say he had to be at the airport by 2am.. oh boy!! my college son would say ~sleep is for whimps~ haha.
Awhh.. he misses your homecooking, now that is just sweet. Mine misses Little Debbies.. guess what will be in the black bag?? weeeee!
OH to Mrs. Mail Lady today.... OH please surprise me with your little beep beep today, I don't think I can wait for Wed or Thursday...
Sign: momma wants her letter!
Sunnyb - I read that you have to meet them at the check-in to get the pass to go through security with them. I also read that the bus leaving RTC to take them to O'Hare may leave anywhere between 2:00 and 5:30 a.m. I hope they are able to call after they get their orders!
Thanks for the backpack list. My son also wrote and told me he can't wait for q-tips! The things he missed the most were my home cooking and wearing his boxers. He said driving his truck, having his cell, etc. were all nice but most of all he wants to be back in the world and hear the news. I guess our SRs are growing up!
Hi Patty, My son is heading to Goose Creek SC for nuke A school. He leaves for the airport at 2am Sat. morning :( but we were told we could hang out at the airport with them because they could be there for hours. Like one mom said they had to be there at 2am- and their plane didn't leave until 3pm!! **I have to find out, but I think somewhere you have to get a pass to go to the gate with your sailor!
I joined my son's A school group and posted the question of what their suggestions for the black bag is, and this is what they told me. But each school might be different so check out yours. :)
*their own underwear, and running shoes.
*one civilian outfit and a few tshirts for down time in their room.
*all laptop, phone, music mp3 stuff, with cords n chargers.
*snacks for the plane
*q-tips for those who are sick of wet ears! haha (i'm sure that is my son)
**No liquids since they are getting on the plane
*more contacts and their own glasses.
*razors, their own beauty supplies.
*they also suggested giving them your netflix pass word if your a member, for their down times, they are able to watch movies.
If I think or hear of anything else.. I'll post it.
*Good tip on the camera setting Lala
yes.. they allow them to receive their contacts a week before, so they have them for pictures and graduation. You may send them in a little yellow bubble envelope with solution in a 3oz or less size bottle.
**I think I saw moms who's SR's are girls talking about sending hair styling things, but since I have a son.. I didn't really pay much attention to say more about that.
You can pack snacks but no drinks. They can have a drink but they have to buy it after they pass the security gate.
Remember when you get there if you are using a digital camera to take a bunch of pictures when you get in the ceremony hall and change the setting until you get the best pictures you can with your camera. It will save you time and your pictures will come out much better. Don't take any pictures outside the hall or they will take you camera and/or delete your pictures.
