meryl... I must say I agree with diannep.. My son wrote about 2 weeks ago he had been "bunked" for 3 days high fever not well. I was very worried... Last Sunday I got a call that calmed my nerves. It was him sounding very well and happy, he had just completed his marksmanship and got a very high score. He was so excited we didn't even talk about him being ill.. So I guess from my own experience keep the negative thoughts in check he might be fine.
Got a letter today still in very good spirits but missing things from his civilian life, music wants us to bring his iPod... So funny how the things they took for granted now really do mean something.. Can't wait for that first hug!
Ladies only 2 weeks left, I can't believe it! Still not sure if he is part of a Grad and Go... Hoping not but I think I know the answer.. I will cherish every moment we have!
I admire all of you for your strength... This has not been easy!
I am so sorry for all those who are sick or injured. I will keep them all in my prayers.
As for the Q-tips, my daughter said that was one of the hardest "things" to go without. She was use to cleaning her ears daily after her shower and it drove her crazy because they are not allowed to have them lol. I would be the same way.
meryl: Since you got this news by letter, he may already be feeling better...I sure hope so. Between being homesick and SICK, it is so hard for them...but then they start getting better, feeling better, and it looks much brighter to them. I know his letter didn't say what you wanted to hear...and that is so hard...but let's hope that the days it took for you to get it were HEALING days for him and he is much better now! Sounds like he has been through the mill so it is time for good health for him again...
And, yes, meryl...he will be ok! Just hang in there...lots of prayers...
Pianomom, I was thinking the same thing about why he's not getting any better. He did have mono a couple years ago and it makes me wonder if a person who's had it is more susceptible to getting it again. I'm going to mention that in my next letter to him to remind the doctor he's had it before. Thanks so much for your prayers.
MamaCindy, I wouldn't be upset if they give him time to heal properly and graduate later. It would crush him as he desperately wants to stay with this division but I think he would be glad later. Thank you for your concern and I hope indeed that your son's doing better.
