RWG - That is soo exciting!!  I hope my son is enjoying boot camp. I geuss I thought it would be really hard for him b/c he was never a physically fit person. He's more of an intellect. (hence, his choice to go into Naval Intelligence).  We pictured boot camp to be one long gym class. But, I haven't heard from him, so who knows what is going on. I can't wait to get a letter. Just checked the mailbox. Nothing yet. It's been 9 days.

Hello Moms, Im a Dad so go easy on me. Unfortunately NavyDads is not very active. I got a letter from my son today, but no form letter. It is just a personal letter that was very upbeat. He actually likes bootcamp. His return address says ship#09 and Division#206.  Am I in the right PIR group?

Thanks Richard

I just got home from PIR and the best thing I did was talk to the cab driver sarge at 847 212 0246. He gave advice freely AND truly cared about the sailors and their families. Led us to where to stay (for us Navy Lodge was great, but I have special needs), where to fly in (OHare or Milwalkee) and how to get around. The ONE time he was busy, he referred us to a cabdriver named Mark from Guernee, that was also wonderful. Good luck!

Donna:  I totally get that about the clothes!  Men seem to think we are nuts many times...just part of being a female!  They'll never understand us!  ;-)

Casey'sMom:  I know it must be emotionally so hard for you...but remember....they don't understand what it is like to have a loved one in bootcamp (I know I didn't until my son was there) and they are just showing concern for you and your son.  So hopefully you can try and focus on that and maybe it will temporarily numb the emotional pain a bit of what you are going through.  I know it isn't easy...been there, done that.

Just remember..."A" School is totally different...there is contact again!  HOOYAH!  Of course, contact is sketchy again when they are deployed (so this is good practice!), but it won't always be the emotional trauma that is endured when one has someone in bootcamp.

Hang in there...better times are coming!

Casey-I'm sorry this is happening to you. Be strong. I guess I have been pretty lucky. It seems as though most people wait until I say something. A few have asked and I say no and walk away. I guess that's rude of me but, o don't want to start crying.

It is really starting to aggravate me that every single person I talk to asks the exact same questions: Have you heard from your son? (my response of course is NO.... why don't you dig that knife in a little bit harder please). Second question always follows: Oh? Why not? I thought he would be able to call or write? (adding to my agony even more I have to explain how my son is not allowed to have contact with the outside world for the 100th time). Then I hear how hard that must be.... etc. Wouldn't be so bad if it was just a time or two - but everysingle person asks me the same questions. It's getting very old and I'm tired of talking about how my son can not contact me. Anyone else get this as much as me???
