Okay so I think I am the last person to check in.

Had  the best time in GL and so happy to see my son. We were able to spend the whole weekend with him. He is still there until Monday then he will be in VA.

Then on saturday we spent the day in the city then was fun. On Sunday we spent the day at the mall and the hotel My son was so happy to see us and I was so happy to see him. Everyone of them looked so nice. The store on base was nice.

Only got to meet one other family at the meet and greet.

The drive home was good but the Down pour was not so good could not see anything.lol I have talked to my son every day since..

Well, ladies, I may be the last one to report in from the PIR weekend. WOW! What a blast! We traveled up Wed and FINALLY got that "SAILOR" call about 5:40 when we found the future Nukes weren't shipping until Mon @ 6:00am. The neatest part was we were planning to spend the weekend since we'd not been to Chic. before and take in the museum and other sites. God was so good to have the plan already made for us so that we could enjoy the whole weekend with our Sailor! We were able to go to the airport and see all 23 of the new Sailors off to Goose Creek - they probably think his parents are goofy or doting to have gone all the way to the gate with them, but I sorta thought of it as representing all of you that might not have been able to be there. And he was all for it. There were a couple of girl friends along, but we were the only parents & sister that went that far. I enjoyed getting to see them interact with each other in that setting and take care of each other. My son got kidded for lagging behind by the taller guys....he was the guidon in 205 and it seems the taller guys in the back of the formation would raze him about needing to slow down - that he marched too fast at RTC. When we caught up to them at the gate, they said, "xxxxx, why didn't ever march that slow? THAT'S what we were talking about!" They got a kick out of it and I did, too. Our trip home was not as stellar (nor was their trip to Charleston). When we left O'Hare,ETA on GPS was 7:30 pm. After torrential downpour until about 11:00, 4 different construction delays, and a terrible accident near the KY/TN line, we arrived at my daughter's home(east of Atl) at 11:00! Son thought it fun that he would arrive in Atl to transfer to Charleston at 9:00 am and be all settled in Goose Creek before we were home. WELL, the 11:00am ATL to Charleston flight was cancelled and it was after midnight before they arrived in Charleston! He has sent me a txt of his shiny boots tonight, but I'm still waiting on more A School low down. I did enjoy texting him today!
One thing I found funny over the weekend.... I had sent a note early on to "any SR" & asked my son to give it to someone who wasn't getting any mail. He said the young man really appreciated it and I sent him 2 other short encouraging notes over boot camp. (did get to meet the Sailor at the mall with his parents. I'm guessing his mom just wasn't a big writer.) As most of you did, I wrote often to my son. Seems the guys got to kidding about if his mom had sent any mail.... kidding if I was a cougar.HA! I laughed w/ him and said, "They didn't get that I'm just a plain old mama, huh?" Me and a cougar just don't even fit in the same sentence! You never know the repercussions of your actions! right Sunnyb & pushups?
One last thought, we along with Sunnyb & family and one other father had the privilege of attending the chapel service Sunday AM. What a thrill to see those young men and women genuinely worshiping together in such a firey trial in their lives. All at different stages with different struggles, but the same God who loves them so! So impressive and touching. Looking forward to checking back in from time to time. Promise not to be so long-winded! Bless you, veteran moms who will go on to encourage other groups. You made all the difference in our journey. So good to meet some of you....wish I'd met many more. Looking forward to our loved ones serving together.....

KC'smom......I think it is great that your son has set a goal!  Having the will and desire makes a big difference!

worst case scenerio, 'KC' will PIR August 26th!!!!  Oh no!

He has set a goal for PIR July 29th, b/c he refuses to spend his birthday at boot camp. Wish us luck. That day actually fits into my schedule well, as I am off that day!!!

Well, I can't post my new site yet.... I'm homeless. SunnyB- I am just like you out in public with my son. the social butterfly and he has always been embarrased of me. In fact he told me if I go up to any of the guys in his (old) division and tell them i know their mom, I would not be given the password to get in!! hahaa. After bc I'll be in the CTI moms. Sunnyb....it was great running into you in the NEX.....lol....my daughter was amazed too that I was going up to people and saying "hey...I know you!".  This site is great.  I was wondering about KCs son and Squeekers boyfriend, too, I pray for them and all the others that are set back.  Congrats to you and your son.  Nuke is awesome; my daughter will be at Great Lakes for a while but one day I'm sure they will all run into each other again "in the fleet".
