N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Received another letter from my daughter. She sounds so grown. Talking about honor, responsibility, teamwork and dedication. She is so proud of herself and her decision. She said she can't wait for me to see all the positive changes in her. She said she is so happy. That makes me just beam! 25 more days! She said it would be a few weeks before I shoukd expect another call. But still keep phone very close. :-)

Have a blessed Memorial Day all! Thank you to all who have served, and to your sons & daighters seving today! May God's hand be upon them always. May we never forget our brave heros who lost their lives defending the freedoms we have today. We are the land of the free because of the brave .

Lisa, I know what you mean. But like diannep said...its an empty nest thing. My daughter left last week to live in CA, I can call and text but she is still gone and I feel the empty nest the same as I do with my SR. I love to hear their voices when they do call but I find that writing is more personal. I write to her as much as I write to him. Boot Camp separation is definitely different from college or moving on separation and unless one experiences it one can not know the depths of the feelings. Hang in there and know that there are people who do understand your pain.

Lisa:  I know what you mean....they are just trying to help you missing your son and share their leaving for college experiences re: their children.   Yes, another empty nest syndrome, but like you said, they can contact them, see them, etc.  They try to understand what Bootcamp is like but honestly, they just can't unless they have had someone there.  Just know that they mean well....at least, most of them do!  The good news is that everyone here on this site understands your feelings!  :-)

Good Morning and Happy Memorial Day to all!

LisaPNM,

You're welcome!  I really looked hard today in all my places, including today's message at church and the scriptures provided and my various devotionals.  Hebrews  13:20-21 popped out of my journal that I use to take my notes of the message!  I'm glad that I found something that really spoke to your heart and that would encourage your SR!!  ((HUGS))

Carla, yes the letter writing is theraputic, plus I had some of his friends and their parents contact me today asking about him and his address to write him, that made me so happy. The more letters from fam & friends they receive the better. Its the little things :)

I'm sorry that you didn't get a call, LisaPNM:( Writing a letter helps. I feel like it's therapeutic for me when I'm missing my SR.
