Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Also during the intense portion of their training, you may not hear from them much at Bootcamp. That is why we use that term.

Morgyn: It is a term used when they are deployed. But we use it here during Bootcamp when they are in the intense portion of training.

I'm sorry, but newbie navy wife here. What exactly is "radio silence mode"? Is it a specific part of training that they don't allow SR's to call? I'm sorry for the questions, just confused as to if I I should keep my hopes up he will call this week..

Shilo, prayers for your SR to finish strong!! I missed the calls from mine today. Knowing they are going into the "radio silence" period makes me even sadder!! Praying for Allen his division to have physical stamina beyond what eye naturally would for mental focus, for fortitude and drive to finish strong!

Friends,
Your SRs are going into the "radio silence" mode where pretty much the only contact you will have is their weekly letters. They are entering the intense and busy part of their training. They will be tested on their barracks, uniforms, marching, and how well they finally pull together. They can earn reward flags to hold proudly in front of their divisions at PIR. At the end and right before they start going into Battlestations, they may be allowed a call if they are doing well as a division. This is in addition to their "I'm a Sailor" call, so rest easy everyone, this phase is part of the home stretch!! Keep writing those letters!!
